Sunny Day Believer is right. Though, by "her" being a prostitute, do you mean Mother Firefly? There wasn't a referance to that in the movie, yet sadly I have yet to get the DVD. *cries* And, as for "who the hell knows what any of their relationship to Dr. Satan was", I thought it was obvious that they were some of his experiments that actually worked. As opposed to the mutants in the basement, of course. Philemon Crowley, I had never thought of that, but it totally makes sense. But, wasn't the father that burned up the house causing Tiny's deformaty Roufas? It really seems like these songs were written when the ideas for the story was in their initial stage, which may be why the full version of this and many of the songs weren't in the movie. From the bonus features on the Devil's Rejects DVD, I guess Rob Zombie isn't afraid of changing the script to compensate for the actors, so perhaps that is one of the reasons these songs and the movie don't really match up. Aparently, "father, mother, child" is a way of saying "to play house" in German, so that wouldn't have anything to do with incest resulting in pregnancy. |

And, I believe in the second line it is supposed to be "but idle" not "unbridled", as the term "idle hands" was used in the previous line...at any rate, this song seems to be about someone who is depressed and suicidal because of some past experience that is vaguely explained. "She" seems like a mother who is addressing a child (the narrator), and the line "there's nothing to fear but the monster is here" might be referring to the mother comforting the child, saying that there are no monsters to get you at night, yet the narrator knows that what will hurt him is inside, either the house (family trauma) or inside himself. The person speaking in the other verses is, I believe, the narrator grown up and fully consumed by that darkness. |

I agree with SilasMoon 89. This does seem that it was never really released (only on a fan edition of Engel, I believe), so naturally the recording is not perfect, like Shwartzes Glas. But yeah..."S&M" pretty well sums up this song. Oh, and the translation is a bit strange in one part, sorry to whoever did it. It is not "The pain is great like never before". "Der Schmerz ist schön wie du" is pretty obviously "The pain is beautiful like/as you". I'm not the only one who thinks so...Just a suggestion. |
