The Beatles – I Am the Walrus Lyrics 16 years ago
How people would always try and decipher his lyrics and yet miss the man. He’s having fun at the listeners expense, and delivering a personal message through the only non-whimsical line is: ‘I’m crying’

Ideology , false consciousness, its manipulation of the subject, or as we like to think, the 'Individual'.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Moonland Lyrics 17 years ago
I believe after seeing this song performed by Cave last month, that he is singing about his constant need for recognition from others -through his craft. It is the Cave's vanity that drives him in this case, and it is this same vanity that causes him to conclude 'whispering DJ On the radio, I'm not your favourite lover'. He finally pleads for our attention when he cries 'But somebody needs you/And that somebody is me'.

Quite a narcissistic look at songwrting and the motivations of artists.

Bob Dylan – Ballad of a Thin Man Lyrics 20 years ago
This song described and event in 1953, when Dylan slipped on a Aba zabbar wrapper outside his local dime store. Supposingly, from initial accounts, Bob shamefully walked with the sobs. Classic post-training wheels Dylan!

Radiohead – Morning Bell Lyrics 20 years ago
Anyone feel a comedown coming on? (drug culture)? I allways scenced this song was the morning after, much like Velvets "sunday morning" but with Radioheads intention more to further the forms of escapism and the pain of reality and estrangemnet, that Kid A empowers.

The Beatles – Come Together Lyrics 20 years ago
I think it's a look at the types of people who promoted hippie culture, yet the irony exists in the fact that though 'come togeather" is stated numoursly in the songs descriptions, none of the characters ever do that. Come togeather over what? Drugs?

Jeff Buckley – Dream Brother Lyrics 21 years ago
I beleive taking into account the work of his father this song can be seen as a plea to the hopeless romantics. It's the pain created by a lofty ignorence and an unwavering desire to relate only with solitude and the permenance. Jeff, naturally would have recognised this also in himself.

The Velvet Underground – Here She Comes Now Lyrics 21 years ago
Well sarcasm aside It's not about a girl coming at all. I believe it's about losing faith in love, seeing it hollow, and wondering if you will ever find purpose and meaning through it again.

Bob Dylan – Mr. Tambourine Man Lyrics 21 years ago
Interesting point, In melvill;s epic Moby Dick a tambourine man would stand on the mast and bang the instrument all night to assure no one would fall asleep on the watch. from Dylan was obvioulsy influenced by the novel when writing this album, considering he refers to it repeatively in one of the songs.

Bob Dylan – You're a Big Girl Now Lyrics 21 years ago
Yes agreed, pain must stop and start for it's power lies in it's surprise. I dont think though that he is pleading to have her back, but maybe recognising the consequences of misguided beliefs on love, and the hurt recieved and inflicted by both relations.

Love is so simple, to quote a phrase,
You've known it all the time, I'm learnin' it these days.
Oh, I know where I can find you, oh, oh,
In somebody's room.
It's a price I have to pay
You're a big girl all the way.

Bob Dylan – Ballad of Hollis Brown Lyrics 21 years ago
I dont think it's describing a social problem. I relate it closer to Poe's Haunted palace. An outer enviroment which reflects an inner change. Hollis Brown may have lost himself and then lost his farm "Hollis Brown He lived on the outside of town"

Many of Eddie's lyrics have a close tie in with nature. I think this song is talking about the innocence and freedom that lies in the awarness of the moment and nature. much like the "romantics" who westernised innocence through intellect and knowledge

Bob Dylan – Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 Lyrics 21 years ago
Maybe Dylan is highlighting the sublime desires of humanity that escape us without consulting our concious, and breed contempt, isolation and evil into this world. Stoned takes on a double meaning , speaking of the people who will put you down no matter what you try to achieve in this world, and also Dylan preposing that if we all got stoned on marijuana once in a while we would understand ourselves better and not fall into the traps of the inner workings ( hence he would not feel so alone in the world)??

Bob Dylan – Ballad of a Thin Man Lyrics 21 years ago
I allways thought this song was highly methaphored to interpret the individuality and life drugs ( Mr Jones) takes away from excessive and habitual use.

Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word "NOW"
And you say, "For what reason?"
And he says, "How?"
And you say, "What does this mean?"
And he screams back, "You're a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home"

Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 23 years ago
I think maynard is questioning god ,and how in the garden of eden god tried to create something beyond himself but failed, and when adam ate the apple of knowledge humans forever became aware of what motivates them , greed and selfishness. Maynard is questioning jesus christ and wheather him dying on the cross as an act to raise above human's and seperate himself from greed and selfishness, and create hope for human's, were actually true.

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 23 years ago
I think it's about floyd questioning your inner depth and
weather your on there level or just another one of the pack. I think the last part of the sond supports the theory by explaining if there is any point in figting ourselves because eventually society will pull the wool over our eyes and the hot ashes of our fire will cease to move forward only revolve in a cycle of the same fears. About love aswell.

Pink Floyd – Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun Lyrics 23 years ago
it is about isolation and love ,about placing so much importance on a feeling when it really doesnt exist, and that eventually the attraction of two people will be worn down by time , and even though we know its a fruitless objective we choose to forget and try anyway. the cycle continues on. Led Zeppelin – Kashmir Lyrics 23 years ago

I agree with the knowledge that this song is partially
based on the travels of the band but there is definatly
internal factor relating with kasmir , such of the fact that
kashmir is a tranquil beauty scape between two
countries ( pakistan, India) that have been fighting for
hundred of years. The song relates to the temporary
state of conciousness reached through drugs, simulating
the beauty, the calmness and the clarity of such a zone,
and how depression , confusion and anxiety will surround
it at all times.
