weezer fans don't tell rivers to get a wife and a job, and that he's living a dream. I don't understand how that conclusion could be reached. It's literal, someone calls him on the phone and tells him these things. Presumably it's someone who's trying to solve his problem with depression. Parents usually think people get depressed because they don't have a wife or a job, and they're just looking out for their children. Children then get extremely upset at the concept that someone thinks what they're doing is somehow wrong, and take extreme offense to the parents. It's a control game. The problem is that Rivers really is an extremely immature crybaby. If I were his dad and I didn't give a shit about the fact that he was a successful musician, and just looked at how much of a whining, depressed wreck he is, I'd probably tell him to get a life too. This is the best song on this album. |

A lot of people that fought in the first gulf war came back with what was called Gulf war syndrome. It's basically radiation sickness caused by ezposure to radiation. The radiation was caused by the US military's use of depleted uranium artillery shells in tanks. Depleted uranium is a toxic waste byproduct of the uranium enrichment process for manufacturing nuclear weapons. Uranium is an incredibly dense material and when it is fired from a tank it becomes a socalled kinetic energy weapon that blew through iraq's soviet tanks and melted on contact. the uranium vapor & scrapnel or whatever goes in the air of the explosion site, and creates an area that's radioactive for 10s of thousands of years. everywhere where these shells were fired became a toxic waste dump, and so if any of our own troops came into contact with this stuff they'd be exposed to radiation. Statistics showed that thousands of troops got this gulf war sickness and developed all sorts of cancers, after returning to the states, and a lot of them died from it. The government denies any accountabliity, because if they did accept responsibility, they'd have a huge legal issue with dealing with the vets, they would lose the ability to use this really destructive weapon, and the weapons manufacturers would have to dispose of depleted uranium in a responsible manner. And what do the fascists say to the people that support the vets? They're unpatriotic, anti american. Fascist despotic war pigs is what they are. |

As hard as it might seem to believe, I've always thought this song is about Wacking Off. Check it: --Between the two of my eyes --feverish fractals soar --dance like were they on drugs --peyote labyrinths re-mapped exits Describes a euphoric feeling going on in his brain. --A hasty blink Impulsive reaction to orgasm --and a million life-to-comes A million sperms inside "come" --will never be the same --as they never were They'll never be conceived, and we think of them as insignificant. --In the kinetic energy of a moving fist the repetitive back-forth ... you get it. --lies a birth-machine for a paralell universe in a parallel universe, the singer could just happen to be getting laid and conceive a new life with his birth-machine. I know it's kind of disgusting, but I think it's hilarious. |

| Fugazi – Margin Walker Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Sounds like he's describing an assasination attempt. Possessed by a desire to destroy something that's got vast control over everyone else, making him an extremist. Feels powerless and wants to commit a desperate act in order to shut it down, explode it. | |
| Fugazi – Suggestion Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| pearl jam used to do covers of this. It's about the obectification of women, which is something I do all the time, and yet, still enjoy this song. | |

| Modest Mouse – Whenever I Breathe Out, You Breathe In (Positive/Negative) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"I didn't go to work for a month I didn't leave my bed for eight days straight I haven't hung out with anyone 'Cause if I did, I'd have nothing to say I didn't feel angry or depressed I didn't feel anything at all" After a certain breakup with a former lover, I remember I just handled shit bad and made myself numb to everything, just completely let go of everything that mattered. I would get to work at noon or later for months, and luckily my job let me slide for a while. I remember not caring about anything, just walking around in a total haze. This IS depression, but when it's going on you DON'T feel depressed, because you're just completely unconscious. It's weird that I've never come across another song that articulates such a simple concept. Sometimes you're depressed but you can still go through all the motions, this is beyond that. |

| Modest Mouse – Cowboy Dan Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I thought when you're working on an engine that's not running, it is a figure of speech to say that the person is trying to turn it over. I think that makes figurative sense rather than turning an egg over, which doesn't seem that hard, and also seems like a pointless thing to sing about not being able to do. | |
| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 21 years ago |

new album means nothing to mean. it might sound good to people but, the other fucking albums were incredible, and this one just doesn't compare. Brings me back to when i lived in cali and was on more drugs than i ever could imagine, it was like isaac was writing only for those that had this bleak desolate outlook on life that admittedly sounds pretty pathetic and depressing, but I guess I don't pick that up from the recent shit, and it seems odd that they would ride to success without that consistent theme. |

I didn't really go for this album, but there were parts of this song that were great. The sample has been done a million times, even by enigma, which came out at the same time. You wanna hate me then hate me what can I do? I like that. Anybody got his latest stuff all anti bush or whatever? |
