Mother Love Bone – Captain Hi-Top Lyrics 2 years ago
Ok no, he did not right this about himself at all. "Farah" was an Arabic bollywood actress. This hidden reference gives away the meaning of the whole song. It is a satirical criticism of Muslim culture. Criticism of their polygamy, misogyny, and pedophilia. "Captain Hi-Top" is "the official inseminator of the female population". "Hide your mom, control your sister", clearly a reference to females in Muslim cultures having to wear full body robes to not attract other men. CMON PEOPLE. He "re-wrote the Bible and I made my own rules"!? OBV ISLAM. Why Am I the only one that picked up on this so far.

The Oh Hellos – Bitter Water Lyrics 2 years ago
OK HEAR ME OUT. This is not a love song whatsoever. This is a song about someone reminiscing about a past war. This whole album circles around a coronation of a king therefore starting a time of peace.

VERSE ONE: Is how they have found their own way to peace and love, but questions if the love of god would really be stronger if they swore to never return to their wrathful ways.

CHORUS ONE: The person says they still taste the bitter water on their lips, metaphorical of remembering the war. The person admits it was terrible then but can't shake the feeling.

VERSE TWO: They "feel it in their soul" the "empty hole" that the war made them into an empty person. They know they shouldn't love war but it is their nature that they cannot shake.

CHORUS TWO: Do you guys get it now? "Bitter Water" is BLOOD. Hence: "And I feel it in my blood" "All the days of our delights are poison in my veins". They question if peace is really the answer. It is likely (and by the rest of the album) that they were on the loosing side and do not want peace, bc for them that = oppression.

CHORUS 3: Ok the last chorus is the person explaining they are not a fool. They understand that if you live by the sword, you die by the sword. The person asks to be buried beneath the tree they used to play on as a child.

Overall, this song is about someone who is not willing to accept defeat, even if it means defying gods wishes, because they do not know for sure who is right and wrong. The song is very poetic and may come across as a love song to some. For those who look deeper, I hope this helped you.

Stone Temple Pilots – Maver Lyrics 2 years ago
I think that that this song is a touch on how the music industry corrupts people. Maver is less an actual person, but a representation of purity and talent and big dreams. She comes to California thinking she'll make it big but comes to realize it's not what it's cracked up to be. California has this paradisiacal draw to the rest of the country, but appearances can be deceiving. I think this also goes in line with the rest of the album because many of the songs on it are exposing the terrible state of the music industry and the radio.

Stone Temple Pilots – First Kiss On Mars Lyrics 2 years ago
I think this song is about questioning if anything is real. Is the music we hear on the radio real? is the solar system real? is the love he felt real?. His answer is left vauge on purpose because he wants you to draw your own conclusions. He is prompting you to question your reality, is it really what you want in life? (I think it's less a love song then ppl think it is just because of the title)

"comfort yourself" ? I was just sharing what I got out of the song based off what I know to be true. "I've been waiting A long time" & "Now here's the answer You're all mine now", how's baseless for you now? The song is about a wedding proposal, my mother knew Scott and Mike from Edison (they directly confirmed that was the meaning). Get that chip off your shoulder

Stone Temple Pilots – Down Lyrics 2 years ago
It seems like in the first verse that repeats throughout the song he is asking for the right way to ask the girl. And then at the end of the pre-chorus he gets his answer. Then the chorus is the relief of stress because he has been waiting a long time and finally got his answer. The bridge is him asking her to follow him "down" the aisle. Also this interpretation makes the most sense given the timing of the album.

@[Abstruse:47216] I agree with this interpretation. It seems like in the first verse that repeats throughout the song he is asking for the right way to ask the girl. And then at the end of the pre-chorus he gets his answer. Then the chorus is the relief of stress because he has been waiting a long time and finally got his answer. Its nice to see other people taking it further then "sex or heroin".

Steve Miller Band – Wild Mountain Honey Lyrics 2 years ago
I think this song is more about experiencing the pureness of nature and the wild. Sometimes you need to just go out and explore the real world. Give up on the "golden machine" & "money" for a while and share the beauty with your family.

Eagles – The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks Lyrics 2 years ago
I think the song is satirically happy. maybe not as far as "gang rape" but I definitely think there's an undertone of criticism of the whole fraternity/sorority crap. They don't want no freaks but they act like freaks themselves...hypocrisy? idk could be completely off, but I like the song.

Eagles – Teenage Jail Lyrics 2 years ago
I see why people don't like this song, but I think the lyrics are quite good at capturing the atmosphere of what they intended. I think the "teenage jail" is the public education system."Stare out the window You can't make the time go You don't even know why you're here" screams a boring classroom to me. "waits for the weekend to go off the deep end" "somethings always for sale" high schoolers only care about appearances. Not a bad song IMO.
