The Mars Volta – Cassandra Gemini Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Okay I'm confused...I am a n00b to Teh Mars Volta... Is that a girl singing on this song?? Please say yes. Because it's sexy. And if it is a man...I am ashaaaamed... |
KMFDM – Anarchy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Robby Raccoon has this song down for sure. Choaticone; this song has nothing to do with religion. |
Arctic Monkeys – Perhaps Vampires Is a Bit Strong But... Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ROFL LessThanJake4Life, you are honestly pathetic...How can people like you be so ignorant that you think if someone says something about the Jews, they are "Nazis"?? Get commie garbage out of our nation. |
Soul Asylum – Just Like Anyone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow, if all she does in the outhouse is THINK then I guess I've been listening to way too much shock-rock... |
Boyd Rice – Wolf Pact Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Boyd Rice pwns noobs |
Frankie Goes to Hollywood – Relax Lyrics | 18 years ago |
LOL!! Now that goddesscaroline brought up the "fight" theory, which I've never heard before, I think it IS about a fight!! Because Frankie Goes to Hollywood is obviously a bunch of queer perverts, so obviously they expect you to think that's what the song is about. But it could be about a fight! Powerman 5000 seems to think so... I mean it really can't just be about sex. There's no way they'd do that. Look on the back of the Relax vinyl sleeve, they've got little sperms swimming around and some sort of bizarre sex fantasy snippet. They just couldn't put such a blatantly sexual song on the album after all that, they're screwing with our heads! (20 years later I haven't figured it out, how sad) |
VNV Nation – Arena Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The song has the same subject as all of VNV Nation's songs: Spirituality. I don't know why no one ever catches on to the fact that all of Ronan Harris' songs are written about his religious and spiritual beliefs. When I listened to this CD for the first time yesterday, this song is essentially relative to my point of view on the matter. When people ask me, "don't you ever question your religion?" and I respond, "all the time; and each time I find my beliefs more true". Perhaps it is destiny or fate, but either way I choose to run forward, through whatever may come and hold on to those beliefs. I "dare the wind, lay claim to me" and I know that "somehow none may take me". Like Ronan Harris declares in this song, when I question my faith, I never end up feeling "the need to leave the point I came to again and again". This is my interpretation. |
VNV Nation – Chrome Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Nazis?? Anyone got any information on this??? I know that Ronan Harris is very spiritual so, like Christians, he probably gets labelled as a "Nazi" for that, somehow. I have noticed that some White Power sites sell VNV Nation CDs. |
Nile – Unas Slayer Of The Gods Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think Unas was ever a pharaoh...But I do know that he was the most intimidating god to the Egyptians. It was said that he feasts on the gods that no one worshiped anymore and that when people were losing faith he would cast the dying gods into his fire pit. He had the image of a gargantuan bull (think the Minitar). What Nile wrote here is essentially a bunch of lines from the Egyptian Book of the Dead, which I recommend to all fans of Nile or just Egyptology in general. It's funny because you won't want to put it down, hahaha...Those Egyptians sure were good writers... |
Nile – Chapter For Transforming Into A Snake Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's actually the Chapter of Transforming into the Serpent from the Egyptian Book of the Dead (think the Necronomicon of the desert). They took the ancient words and put them to metal, and it turned out to be wicked. |
30 Seconds to Mars – Hunter (Bjork cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a Bjork cover!? I KNEW it sounded like Bjork! The reason I came here to check out what people were saying is for that very exact reason, to see if maybe it was...absolutely wicked...love Bjork! |
Mastodon – Battle at Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I have a feeling it is, but they edited the "military tribunal" part out because it's irrelevant to the song... |
Fields Of The Nephilim – Slowkill Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Absolutely mind-ravaging song, a classic story of a suicide, done in the true cowboy fashion that is the Fields of the Nephilim. I believe it is, indeed, "such a fire as burns inside". That makes more sense. "Up here I can see for miles" and "I'm up here because I wanted to die" are such good lines. Heart-pouding chorus..."Now jump"! |
Fields Of The Nephilim – Vet For the Insane Lyrics | 19 years ago |
From experience it's an attempt at describing the dreadful feeling of the realization that the girl you love won't stay with you. Thinking of ways to pull things back together but knowing you can't. "I'm gonna pull it all to pieces". That is essentially what it feels like. Knowing that the more you try to bring back what you once had, the more you will lose it. Feeling like you want to go home. Telling yourself, "Relax"... |
Sonata Arctica – Kingdom For A Heart Lyrics | 19 years ago |
LOL Tony introduces this song as "Kingdom-Sized Hardon" during live shows. |
Gravity Kills – Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree, best album of all time. |
Stabbing Westward – Drugstore Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Cannibal Corpse – I Cum Blood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
LOL this is so funny! Come on, guys, let's make "I Cum Blood" the #1 song on SongMeanings!! rofl has anyone heard a recording of Hannibal Horse do this song live? "Here's a song about shootin' blood out yer cock!" What an intelligent collaberation! |
Nine Inch Nails – Something I Can Never Have Lyrics | 19 years ago |
That's amazing. You don't know what this song means until you know what it's like to want something you can never have...Insanity_We_Trust, like myself, owes so much to songs like this. I know I would have lost myself long ago if it weren't for Otep... |
Saves the Day – East Coast Lyrics | 19 years ago |
LOL! Sieg heil, Chocolate... |
Wumpscut – Thorns Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Does anyone else think this song is referencing The Thorn Birds, by Colleen McCullough? You've probably read the part I'm talking about: "There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to outcarol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain.... Or so says the legend." I'm pretty sure he's talking about that poem (Once someone told a story about these small desert birds, throwing themselves in thorns when copulating in lust...And while embraced by death they sing so fine than never). |
Stabbing Westward – When I'm Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
LOL Incu |
KoЯn – 4 U Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Man, I was so not expecting this song when I listened through Issues...absolutely beautiful. |
Cannibal Corpse – I Cum Blood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree with TonKpilS. "It is a known fact that most homophobic people are homophobic because they're actually gay, you know." That's not true, by any stretch of the imagination. Homophobia is a mental illness, a phobia, just like arachnophobia (the fear of spiders). I'm arachnophobic; does that mean I actually love being around spiders and just don't know it? Cannibal Corpse is bloody disgusting and no one could possibly like the music. It's practically non-existent. quiffporn is SO right. |
Bright Eyes – False Advertising Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Such a sweet song. |
Sonata Arctica – Tallulah Lyrics | 19 years ago |
O, geez, Sonata Arctica IS the best band ever, and Tony K is just incredible. Did you know that English is Sonata Arctica's second language? That's just incredible. And so is this song. |
Sonata Arctica – The Wind Beneath My Wings (Bette Midler cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, I like the dead friend theory. |
Queen – I Want To Break Free Lyrics | 19 years ago |
So baby can't you seeeeee-heeee? I've got to break frrrrrreeee! |
Loreena McKennitt – Full Circle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I LOVE Loreena McKennitt! I just clicked on the latest comment, and it took me here. I always see Loreena McKennitt in town (I live in Stratford). She is an all-around beautiful lady. |
Sonata Arctica – Dream Thieves Lyrics | 19 years ago |
LOL Piracy!? I think it's another song of lost love. The best one, that is. |
Sonata Arctica – Sing In Silence Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Absolutely beautiful you guys |
Fields Of The Nephilim – At the Gates of Silent Memory Lyrics | 19 years ago |
One of my favourite songs. With this one, there's an entire part missing...Anyone know why? I'm so curious! The added segment is as follows: come in from the cold I'll owe you my heart be my shelter and refuge for the night love of my life pour your light on the faith I can feel make it real in her sleep For some reason, I've noticed this and Nine Inch Nails' "Something I Can Never Have" have missing segments at the end! I want to hear versions with these segments included! In this song's case, the missing part sounds VERY interesting. It would be INCREDIBLE as the end to this already-amazing song. |
Nine Inch Nails – Something I Can Never Have Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, what IS with those missing lyrics? I'm so curious! My mom likes Nine Inch Nails. We listen to my tapes in the car. |
VNV Nation – Airships Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The reason this is one of the best songs ever is because of its meaning. Ronan Harris is a very spritual man, which I respect beyond words. "Airships" is about the second coming of Christ, or the arrival of God to the Earth (the apocalypse). The reason this can be hard to believe is because of how peaceful it is. That's exactly why I love it so. When you hear a song themed around the apocalypse, it's fast, heavy and very angry -- because it's the end of the world! But Ronan Harris looked at it in a spiritual way. What is the end of the world but paradise? That's what he's saying. It's a futuristic take on the Second Coming. He describes a vivid image of God towering above even the tallest skyscrapers; in these days, man thinks he is God, but even the greatest monuments he has built are dwarfed by God's power. It makes me feel so hopeful, because in a bleak and godless future, Ronan Harris makes it clear that God is not an obsolete concept from an age long past -- He is still as powerful as ever, even a future so dark and desolate that no one can even believe in Him anymore. "Leaving everything, and stepping into a new world..." Stepping into eternal paradise. |
Nine Inch Nails – A Warm Place Lyrics | 19 years ago |
KainTheDrow, you've got to put it into something like Goldwave and reverse it, and then save it. If you use Warez P2P, you should be able to find a version that I reversed. |
Therion – Birth Of Venus Illegitima Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Is this the right lyrics? I swear it's not... It's almost funny how little-known Therion is. One of THE best bands, ever. |
Nine Inch Nails – March of the Pigs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I feel somewhat_damaged is partially correct, if you've ever seen the video... Multiple meanings It's about the 'pigs', of course, and the injustification. I've experienced that first-hand. When I get in trouble with the police, this song is seriously the background music in my mind. "maybe afraid of it let's discredit it let's pick away at it I want to watch it come down" "I want a little bit I want a piece of it I think he's losing it I want to watch it come down" Gives it all away. When police are brutal, it's out of their own fear. They try to act like big strong men (see "Big Man with a Gun"), and restrain, beat, 'take the skin and peel it back' to make themselves feel better. A song about the hypocracy of the corrupt police force. |
Nine Inch Nails – Hurt Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No... I always liked this song (join the club, I know), but I never realized its meaning until I experienced it myself. I had a habit. I'd become involved with people, and then decide one day that I just didn't care anymore. People would wonder why I suddenly don't like them or why I stopped talking to them. So did I. I came to realize this the night it hit me. I thought to myself, "Everyone I know goes away in the end". Then I knew. It 'Hurt' me so much that I now am completely changed. That night, I sat in my "liar's" chair, contemplating the horror that I have been. It was such a mess of unorganized thinking -- my broken thoughts. The thing that really made me understand this song, though, was "what have I become? My sweetest friend...Everyone I know goes away in the end". I can't understand why I would be so horrible to my sweetest friends when there was absolutely no reason. It was basically like, if you try to be my friend, I will let you down...I will make you hurt. I finally got over this...addiction of sorts...much with the help of this beautiful, heartfelt song. And that is precisely the point: Look at this guy. The guy in the song. What a wreck. He just ends it all; why shouldn't he? Even nothing would be better than what he had. But that's not the right way of thinking; it's tunnel vision. Reznor is saying, you gotta break free. You see where this guy went wrong? Reznor showed everyone what NOT to do, he showed us someone and said "you don't want to follow in this guy's footsteps, do you?". And you don't. I don't. Drugs are just not a factor in this song -- people see 'needle' and think 'o, it's about drugs'. That's such a misconception. |
Soul Asylum – Promises Broken Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Ya hey the other day I was in a dollar store and WTF do ya know but I was at the checkout and over in the corner the word "soul" catches my eye but i'm like WTF i go over and sure enough it's a book called Soul Asylum an illustrated discography or something so i bought it :) Wasn't that a great story???? Gravity Kills – Blame Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Ya Eviscerator GK is my #1 favourite band and I can not believe how underrated they are! Everyone I talk to says they're a heavy metal fan and not 1 of them listens to GK! It's weird because they are soooo great! |
Soul Asylum – Misery Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is one of my favourites. I really like the lyrics to the song. Soul Asylum rocks too. |
Soul Asylum – Just Like Anyone Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Um what is this song about? What exactly does the girl do in the outhouse? It wasn't too clear to me......... |
Gravity Kills – Down Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This is one of my favourite songs ever! It rocks. I think what it may be about is someone who lies and steals, and the guy knows all the stuff they did. The person is so messed up on drugs and stuff. Or something. GK ROX! |
