Randy Newman – Lost Without You Lyrics 2 years ago
To me, this part of the lyrics - a monologue, of a dying mother to her children - is one of the most beautiful expressions of marital love ever put on music:

And you said hush up children let me breath
I've been listening to you all your life
Are they hungry? Are they sick?
What is it they need?
Now it's turn to listen to me
I was young when we met and afraid of the world
Now it's he who's afraid and I'm leaving
Make sure he sleeps in his bed at night
Don't let him sleep in that chair
If he holds out his hand to you
Hold it tight that makes you uncomfortable
Or if it embarrasses you, I don't care

All the more so, if you know that in an interview with Pitchfork Mr. Newman explained:

When my mother was dying, my father was sort of taking care of her. But he was taking too much of this medicine, so he was falling around a little bit. He didn't seem like he was taking care of her right. So my brother and I went to her and said, "Jeez, we're sorry that Dad's not doing the job for you." And she said, "Don't you say anything bad about him. From the very beginning of this, he couldn't have been better." And it really shocked my brother and I, because we never saw her express her love for him ever."

So, the beautiful lyrics of Lost Without You are biographical, and the last line of the interview adds a tragical personal note to the song - an addition you will never forget.

I sincerely hope Mr. Newman will play this song live during his upcoming European tour. Especially in Paris on 27th February when I will be attending the concert - with my wife and children...

Paul McCartney – Maybe I'm Amazed Lyrics 4 years ago
This is Paul's best post Beatles piece - competing with "Let It Be" to win the prize for his best piece ever. Most times I think LIB wins, or Yesterday. The lyrics of LIB relate so beautifully to his mother Mary and to Shakespeare - and the chords scheme is astonishing - even after 50 years. But regularly I think "Maybe I'm Amazed" should be the winner of this competition, as the lyrics of this magnificent song relate so directly and heavily to Paul's personal feelings - and the music is so supportive to the unlimited loveliness and insecurity of his feelings. If I had Paul's voice, I would dare too sing this song to my wife. Maaike is her name - And I Love Her.

Thomas Dolby – I Scare Myself Lyrics 4 years ago
In my view, this is an ultimate love song - as the "me" person needs his loved one to escape from his demons. Now that is a familiar and/or sensible angle to perceive happiness from, or is it not?
