I think it’s a lesbian anthem. “Before I knew about the equality way”, “I don’t like the straight way”, these lyrics immediately jump out as containing LGBT themes to me. “I ride the pony that I like best I knew I that there was something I missed I was fifteen when I first got kissed, before I knew about the equality way” I mean come on, she rides the pony that she likes best, not the pony society likes her to. She knew there was something she was missing out on (being with women) she was fifteen when she got kissed, probably felt confused because she felt she was not enjoying kissing a boy like most girls do and this was before she knew about the “equality way”, AKA the ability to live as a gay woman. |
