| Johnny Cash – You Are My Sunshine (Jimmie Davis cover) Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| The singer is in love with a woman who lights up his world with happiness, and so she is his sunshine, and then she goes and loves someone else, and it shatters his heart, but still he pleads with her to stay, and be his sunshine, and not take herself away because she's the sunshine in his world and he loves her and he needs her. It's a beautiful love song about true love. | |
| Ella Fitzgerald – Let's Call The Whole Thing Off Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| This written in sarcasm.. lol Let's call the whole thing off, is the opposite of what this song means. This song means the singer loves the other person so much they could care less what either one of them likes or how different they are or how they speak is.. That's why he says at the end if you like pyjamas then that's what they'll be basically.. lol It's two people in love who have a hard time agreeing sometimes, likely because each one is stubborn in their own ways, and so when they meet they keep finding dumb reasons I think to call it quits at first maybe.. but the singer realizes that's stupid because truly they need each other so they could never call the whole thing off.. and he says if they did call it off he would be heart broken entirely, so he sarcastically says since they need each other that much they obviously should just call the whole thing off.. he's illustrating how stupid they have been in the past to the girl.. using sarcasm, and humor that's all. They love each other and they'll never call the whole thing off. lol | |
| U2 – I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| Yeah so I think it could be about religion, saying he still doesn't have all the answers, although he's following God everywhere God leads him.. with faith.. Just because you're good doesn't mean you know all the answers.. there's still things you can't find sometimes... like when you follow God, it can be lonely because you don't fit in with the world.. so maybe he is looking for love on Earth, or peace here but there's none.. because this is Earth.. so maybe all he finds is war and division because the Bible says that houses will be divided over his word.. so I think the singer chooses to follow God and fight for him and as a result maybe he won't find something else on this Earth he is searching for like Peace and human companionship. It's a narrow path, so it's very hard to find someone who can understand and who also wants to fight for God instead of self indulging in the world.. So I think the singer is still in search of that... | |
| Buddy Holly – Look At Me Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
My interpretation is that maybe the singer fell in love with a woman who didn't believe in love or she had been hurt so she never let men in to love her. Because she didn't ever love the men she was with, he voices his concern for what is going on with her and says, what will she do when she's run out of hearts to break and she's still alone in the world and there's no more men to volunteer to get their hearts broken by her, then he tells her to focus on him and to love him and he tells her he sees a spark of love in her eyes but he isn't sure if it's for him because he's worried that since she's not real with the other guys maybe she's not being real with him I guess.. So he tell her if you just focus all your love on me so that I know it's me that you truly love then what? Last, he tells her, if she keeps loving him and focused on him basically, then what is she going to do after she speaks the truth and all her words of real love to him.. Then he tells her she better think about what she's gonna do if her love makes him fall for her all the way and then he wants to marry her.. I think maybe the singer guy never committed to her for whatever reason so she got stuck with other men and shallow relationships she wasn't invested in truly because her heart belonged to the singer, so the girl is maybe not breaking hearts on purpose, it's just she loves the singer and nobody else can get near her heart. Like maybe the girl wanted the singer but the singer wasn't ready and so he thinks she's professing her love now and thinking that she's safe because she feels like maybe he can't or won't ever commit.. so he's telling her what if I called your bluff then what will you do, because he maybe thinks this girl spent her whole life afraid to truly let someone in and maybe he thinks her last excuse for not letting love in was that commitment.. so I think he's saying he loves her truly and that if she keeps loving him back, they're going to end up together, whether she knows it or not.. . and he's like what will you do then when I'm ready to love you all the way.. It's really a beautiful song and that's my interpretation at least. I think overall he's saying if you keep going with those shallow relationships with those other guys, you're going to be alone and miserable, and then comparing that road with asking her to consider what will happen if she chooses to keep going down his road rather than those other guys... that don't mean a thing to her. It's like hello I'm here and I love you if you could just focus I'd make you happy with my love I think. |

| Lorde – Team Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| This song is about how we are on the same team, nothing to do with Satan as the one guy suggested below. She writes about her life an growing up and this song is about teenage years, or at least feeling like a teen.. and it is like they all show up to a dance and the kids with the scars they feel awkward so Lorde says, wait until you are announced, because she is about to name them, announce them, so she says don't worry there is nothing to fear the hounds (the ridicule or hatred from those in the group who don't understand and target the kids they perceive as imperfect will stay on their chains while she speaks so they can't bite), and then she announces the awkward nerdy kids that get bullied who feel like they are worried they don't even belong at this dance. So she says look upon your own greatness, in other words they are beautiful even though they may not know. Then she describes the girls as wearing jewels and when she says jewels between their teeth, she means the compliments and sweetness they'll spew towards the boys at the dance, and for the boys she tells them that their scars are beautiful, in other words don't worry so much about their flaws because the girls love them like brothers, as they dance. She says the moonlight makes them beautiful, and the girls. So they are all dancing around big eyes.. because the girls are all making eyes at the boy they want, and then she says dancing around big lies as well because of course the group lies, the girls pretend to be nothing but sweet and the boys pretend they only like one girl no doubt, as she is describing a high school dating scene... so I think people lie a lot both boys and girls to try and hook one another, so she says they are dancing as a group around the lies they tell for fear of revealing themselves, I think. She says part of why the lies are danced around is because the whole group at the dance knows the social rules, so they don't dance and tell, and even the kids with no social life ie the comatose don't dance and tell. She seems to agree with that rule fine, but then she says we live in cities that aren't pretty but we are free. The singer breaks from the group norm by saying she breaks the cups, meaning she revealed too much of who she is at the dance for real and didn't tell all the lies she was expected to tell by the group just to fit in, so she says so what if the glass is shattered beneath her feet, it wasn't her fault, she was just being herself and who she is, and she never danced and told but she isn't going to hold back being herself all the way either... so she broke the glass, and she tells the boy she's singing to, it wasn't her fault she never meant to break the glass, but it just happened because she can't lie about who she is like the others at the dance do so well, it's just how she is built. So, then she says she lives a rough life, cities that aren't pretty like the movies.. but she knows how to survive and run her life, and she is free in a sense because there she isn't expected to pretend to be anything she isn't unlike at the dance I think. She tells him we are on each other's team, in other words, I would never hurt you and you and me we are together forever as a team, she loves him truly, win or lose. So, then she says she lives within the ruins of the palace of her dreams.. apparently whatever happened when the dance revealed her, then they got split apart her and who she is singing to... so she sings that she still lives inside her dreams with him, in the ruins of their palace, it is a palace because little girls dream of finding a prince of course and living happy in a palace with him.. She says she realizes that everyone in the crowd is competing for a love they won't receive, because they aren't even real and they don't even understand you have to be real to love... I think the other girls at the dance try to get to him and this guy she runs into later down the road that she is singing to, years later, and she keeps reminding him they are on the same team, and she says they can't receive the love they compete for because she needs her dream, the palace, which represents simply just the particular boys love most I think, and she says what this palace wants is release.. I think from lies and free to be themselves as a couple.. together.. is what she is after. The other women who want her guy, and maybe even the guy himself tell her to give up on her dream, to throw her hands up in the air.. but she says I'm older than I used to be, and I am over giving up.. . I think at the dance in the group the group pressure the other girls.. the lies.. they caused her to quit trying with this boy... but now that he's back she's like no I'm not lying again and pretending I don't want you, I'm not quitting, I know better now.. I think being without him just made her want to fight for truth more.. and love. The rest is just her reassuring the boy they will always be and they were always on one anothers' teams. Regardless of if he tells the truth or lies.. or if they never get together, she loves him so much more than anything and she will always stand in support of him and help him any way she can and it's a love that surpasses time, and it surpasses physical commitment... she is spiritually committed to life to loving him even if it is as a team mate where all she can do is help him from afar I think.. She is saying my love is still true and I won't lie and I won't hide it... I am on your team, loyal to you and you alone.. and basically nothing either one does will ever change her love or being on his team. That's my interpretation at least. | |

| @[BruthaDarryl:29440] Honestly this song has nothing to do with Satan, that's way out there. But at least you shared your thoughts, so that much is appreciated. :) | |
| George Strait – Today My World Slipped Away Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| The singer here seems to have broken up finally with someone that he loved very much. He told God how much it hurt him, and prayed, and then everyone told him he will get over the girl and be fine, but he says without her life isn't really worth living for him, and nobody seems to understand that fact. They broke up and he was supposed to be starting again, but he can't really because inside he still loves her. | |
| Breaking Benjamin – Angels Fall Lyrics | 6 years ago |
|
Recently Breaking Benjamin released the music video to this song. I think the meanings to both are somewhat close. The lyrics I think are about a boyfriend and girlfriend trying to get past problems together. One of the problems is that they both have had abuse in the past but one of them have been able to get by that and right now the other is breaking down do to the abuse. When the "Angels fall with broken wings" meaning the couple because the one is going down to try and help the other get back up together as one. It is also says how "I will never give up, I will never give in" saying how he will personally be their with her forever. The video, I think that is definitely about a family trying to get by together as they go through terrible things. Throughout the video you see what looks like a father and daughter fighting and a grandmother and grandson fighting. Then when you reach the end, the grandparents reunite and you see the love between them and you see the mother run to her son and holding him. Right after that you see a memorial saying that 4 family members were lost out at sea, a mother and son, and a husband and wife. That's what Redskins wrote below as their interpretation, and I agree |

| Tracy Chapman – 3,000 Miles Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| I think this girl singing is still dreaming of the good things she needs, and of happiness some, but she says right now where she is the best she can do is just not to get dragged down or killed or disappear, so she'd SETTLE for safe and terror free, she doesn't need a lot she's not a greedy person, she'd love love I think and faith and the garden but she has had so much bad and so much danger around her that her goals have diminished to just wishing for safe and terror free. I can relate. I think that's what this song is about. | |
| Tracy Chapman – 3,000 Miles Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| I think she's singing this to someone she loves and she's like I'm still 3,000 miles away from you, and where I am all I can do is just to survive because everything is so dark and bad where she is and no matter what kind of girl she is it's dangerous to live where she lives and every day she's there she's not sure if she will make it out alive, but she has no means to escape to anywhere so she is telling the other person from where she is she can't even THINK about happiness because she has to focus on just surviving every day surrounded by bad guys and evil and darkness and she says where she lives tries to bring down her down. I think she really wants love and happiness and faith and beauty but where she lives it seems impossible and she says where she lives only innocents and fools bellieve that this human wasteland can ever get better and turn into a garden. I think she's in the first category, I think she's innocent and believes still, so she tries to survive with her goodness intact and to believe that things are going to get better, but still it is so dark around her.... | |
| Tracy Chapman – She's Got Her Ticket Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| This is about a girl with no family that nobody believes in and all she wants to do is fly away from all the bad things and negativity and drama and be free to be herself without corruption greed and hatred attacking her. She says you give someone your life and then they will just leave you in the end empty handed with nothing. People call her a runaway because she won't stay in their cages, conform and do what they want her to do which seems like give to them until she has literally nothing of herself left, so she says why not leave and go away from everyone because nobody loves her or ever believes in her no matter how much she give out. So, she says nobody should try and stop or manipulate her into stopping because she's made up her mind to fly away and be free to be herself away from hatred pain and people who hurt and then abandon her. I don't think this is at all a suicide song, she's just leaving running far from the people who hurt her to be free of the pain that's all hoping she'll find a place where she can just be without pain and be free to be herself someday. That's what I think this song is about. | |
| Willie Nelson – Red Headed Stranger Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| I do believe it's about a man who was basically cheating. The man hid that the horse was important to him because he hid that he loved someone else from the blonde woman. Then, he kills the blonde for "trying to steal the horse" I do believe he gets caught cheating by the woman he is with and apparently loves, and so he kills the blonde, despite him admitting that the blonde had NO idea about his love or who the horse she was trying to "steal" actually belonged to. So in fact she wasn't stealing at all, but he dismisses his own guilt by stating that a man can't be hung for killing her because after all she tried to steal something that already belonged to someone else, ie the horse. That's rather ridiculous seeing as the blonde was lied to by the murderer about the horse to start, but I do believe that's what the lyrics represent, his excuse of sorts as pathetic as that is... | |
| The Lemonheads – Knoxville Girl Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| This man was in love with a nice church girl, so they'd stroll, enjoy life go to church. The one day he feels pressured to marry her, but instead he starts taking out his anger on her, and he beats her but I think it means he begins treating her harshly when he shouldn't , maybe he says things he knows are hurting her on purpose, and then he kills her and throws her in the river, but I think this could mean he dumps her, and he runs away. He kills her heart maybe not her in the literal sense, but perhaps she only loved him and she was a church girl so he knew that him leaving her was like killing her inside. He thinks he is fine to get rid of her, and his mother sees the blood which may mean his mother sensed he had some sort of guilt, and then he had to lie to his mother about why, he makes up an excuse and his mother buys it so he feels like he is getting away with it, because nobody knows he did it, but then he compares his bed at night to being surrounded by the flames of Hell, so he is obviously tortured and can't sleep because of his own guilt because he knows the girl was innocent and he truly loved her and he knows she didn't deserve what he did to her at all, and he loves her still so he thinks he deserves to suffer now because of what he did to the one he loves. So he then says he is in prison, but I think that can mean a virtual prison, a prison of the repercussions of his own guilt and remorse, and the emptiness he likely feels without her love and company, the loneliness. He made his own bed now he is lying in it thinking about how much he loves that girl and how wrong what he did was, and how he can't ever forget it. I think he would take it back if he could, but he can't because he made sure he got rid of her. That's my interpretation. He betrayed love and his own heart and now he is in a prison of his own emptiness and loneliness and remorse haunted by the memory of her sweet love and innocence and his own mistakes that caused him to lose who he loved most I think. | |
| The Louvin Brothers – Knoxville Girl Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| A gentleman and lady are in love, she has blonde hair. He feels pressured to marry her, so instead he kills her and then throws her in the river thinking he is rid of her, but he's not. His mother senses something is wrong because she sees the blood, but he lies to his mother. The killer makes no effort to excuse his own behavior, so he clearly feels remorse, and the tone is sorrowful. He knows that inside he truly loves her even after he killed her, and he knows she didn't deserve to be killed, she was innocent, she truly loved him. His heart, this love, her innocence, her death at his own hands haunts him after he kills her he feels the flames of hell around his bed, he can't sleep, her memory and his own guilt and love haunt him for the rest of his life. So now the killer views the rest of his existence as prison, or he is in real prison either way, but most likely I think it means like he is suffering at his own hand and is in a prison that he created himself that he can't seem to get out of and he feels like he had it coming because look what he did to the girl that he loved most, and the person who loved him the most purely. So he is hurting himself I think. That's my opinion of the song. | |
