The Fray – You Found Me Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I found God on the corner of First in Amistad Where the west was all but won All alone Smoking his last cigarette I said "where you been?" He said, "ask anything" The guy has found the one who could have helped him through all the stuff he had been through. But he never helped, so now he's asking where he was and why he hadn't helped. Because the singer is Chistian as far as I'm aware, he's obviously referring to God, but I relate to it anyway, but replace God with someone who could have helped but didn't. Where were you When everything was falling apart? All my days Spent by the telephone That never rang And all I needed was a call That never came From the corner of First and Amistad Where was this person? They had the power to help but they never did. He kept waiting for his call, letting him know that everything would be alright, but the call never came and everything was not alright. [Chorus] Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lying on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me After all this stuff he had been through the person had finally found them. It was already too late, he was past help. After all the times the person could have stepped in and helped to stop the pain, they only come after its too late, after they're already beyond repair. I think the "you found me" is almost a humourless sarcasm. Kind of like "You found me, what are you going to do now huh" Something that would be said with a meaningless laugh. In the end Everyone ends up alone Losing her The only one who's ever known Who I am, who I'm not, and who I wanna be No way to know How long she will be next to me He has/had a girl who he really cares about. She's the only one who gets him, the only one who truly understands. But he's either already lost her, or is in the process of losing her, and she's the only thing that means anything to him. [Chorus] Early morning City breaks I've been calling For years and years and years and years And you never left me no messages You never send me no letters You got some kind of nerve Taking all our love He's been reaching out all this time, but never got any help. He's mad, because he always believed this person loved him, but now when he needs them the most the person has abandoned him. But instead of returning the love he's giving, the person is just taking it, and not doing anything in return. |
Marianas Trench – By Now Lyrics | 9 years ago |
How've you been? Can I come in? Just came to get my things and then I guess I'm leaving They broke up, and he was coming back to the apartment to get his stuff, it's super awkward because of what had happened between them. If I could say what you'd like to hear I'd whisper in your ear it's only temporary But I've been taking you for granted He would like to say what she wants, that everything is temporary and it will go back to the way it was, but it's not true. He can't lie like that. He's been taking there relationship for granted and now it's over, and it's never going back to how it was. I thought you'd feel the same as me It's time that I come clean, but But for now can we just both pretend to sleep Sometimes the one you want is not the one you need What goes around don't come around You should know me by now He thought she loved him the way he loved her, but she actually didn't. It should be the time that he tells the truth, but he's going to put it off, and pretend to sleep. Just because he loves her doesn't mean she loves him back. She should know all of this by now, but she doesn't. Better than, better than, better than You should know me Better than, better than, better than You should know me Better than, better than, better than You should know me Better than, better than, better than I should know you as well Better than, better than, better than You should know me Better than, better than, better than You should know me Better than, better than, better than You should know me Better than, better than, better than You should know me by now She should know him by now, know it by now. There's things he's been keeping from her but also things that she hasn't picked up on. Our talk is small, I'm seven inches tall And you should keep the apartment So here's my keys, changed all the bills We're only built to spill and wonder where the heart went You've been taking me for granted. They're talking, but it's nothing imortant, just mindless chatter. He feels small, and nothing he says seems to matter. He's giving up, he wants to leave so bad and he just gives up everything, gives her the apartment and leaves. They're only created to tear themselves apart and wonder what happened. He realizes that he hasn't been taking her for granted, it's the other way around. I know that I remember you I think that you remember me too He remembers who she used to be, and he is hoping she remembers who he used to be, because they're different people now. How can one of us still feel blessed when the other one's lost I know you've got to feel the change It just gets worse when it stays the same How can one of us still feel blessed when the other one's so lost He's questioning how she can she be happy when he's falling apart. He knows she knows things have changed yet he's frusturated that she acts like things are fine. They continue to descend into madness because they're not doing anything about it. Sometimes the one you want is not the one you need What goes around don't come around Don't you know me by now? Just because he wants to be with her doesn't mean it's the right thing to do to stay. he doesn't need this, even though he wants it. |
Marianas Trench – Beside You Lyrics | 9 years ago |
When your tears are spent On your last pretense And your tired eyes refuse to close And sleep in your defense When it's in your spine Like you've walked for miles And the only thing you want is just to be still for a while She's tired of everything this girl has been through so much, and she just wants to sleep, get away from it all. She can't And if your heart wears thin I will hold you up And I will hide you When it gets too much I'll be right beside you I'll be right beside you If she's falling apart and everything is just to much to handle he will be there for her, no matter what. When you're overwhelmed And you've lost your breath And the space between the things you know Is blurring nonetheless When you try to speak, but you make no sound And the words you want are out of reach But they've never been so loud Shes confused and doesn't really know what is happening, and she doesn't know how to explain. If it was bad before, it's hell for her now. I will sing Nobody will break you Trust in me, trust in me, don't pull away Just trust in me, trust me He's reasurring her that he can help her, and even though she's refusing the help he is persistent, and trying to make her believe that things can change. Cause I'm just trying to keep it together Cause I could do worse and you could do better He's trying to keep himself together, it must be exhausting trying to convince someone that things can be better and don't have to be like this. He's saying that she is amazing and he could definitely do worse, and even though he's not the best, and she could do better, he still thinks he can be the one to help her. |
