"I'm a headcase if I don't keep moving, And my head hurts if I don't sit still" Kinda funny cuz this is what I'm doing right now. Could mean insomnia, but I also see a form of depression/anxiety. Sitting in your room wasting away as you watch those "bright eyed" people choke on their ambition, the old ones suffering their ailments, and the youth spending all their time trying to avoid responsibility. And you're just kind of there, doing nothing. I'll sit in my room thinking about other people, wanting to help them since I can't do anything for myself, and I'll sit on my phone, waiting for them to respond or appreciate it ~ but always leading to disappointment. |

Just pointing out, when he says "I'd paint a picture of my mother, but I can't recall her face. She's even far away at midnight, and her laughter haunts my dreams. I ain't never been this broken, I've got nothing left to give so now I'm searching for salvation as the winter closes in." I think that he's specifically just talking about how he's so lost in his pain and regret, that feels as if even his mother is lost to him. Which I think highlights the underlying meaning of the song- the pin and regrets he's felt and gone through. |

| To me the whole song I think he's referring to depression. He's explaining his suicidal irrational and feelings of worthlessness. I like the idea of "being in the same room I was born in" referring to being in a hospital (I.e a psych ward- suicide attempt). The next verse i think is him trying to say that he's over this depression, and it's finally starting to leave. When he references "you" I kinda see it as him talking to his depression (you are out of my mind) | |

| I just don't think his songs are strictly about his faith. I really like the idea of the rap being a suicide attempt- and him finding his way back to sanity- which he needed his faith to do, and relied on that. But I don't think any of his songs were written strictly about his faith. They're not a Christian band, but he does express his faith freely. | |

| Without ranting... I believe this song is about addiction. Any type of addiction: drugs, alcohol, nicotine, mutilation, etc... The realization of your addiction, and the long battle of overcoming it. It tears you apart, destroys relationships and physically and emotionally rips you apart. But also I get the vibe of deep regret for what you've done not just to yourself, but those around you. They tried to help you, but you kept abusing that, you depended on them until they've given you everything they can. You need them to maintain your sanity and get you through it, but they're also the grunt of all your frustrations and weakness. But I believe every line has meaning to it. | |

Completely unrelated to the video, this song makes me feel, probably from personal experience, the mindset of suicidal intentions. But also being the bystander, the friend who sees what's going on and is willing to give whatever he/she can. Perhaps someone you distanced during the time of your darkness, but they show themselves to be your personal advocate and savior at the time. "Wings won't take me, heights don't faze me, so take a step, but don't look down take a step." ~ the feeling of hopelessness and essentially the attempt/intention. Second verse describes quite well to me what it's like to find a reason to live. When it hits you, everything does seem like a blur, you see how selfish and stupid you were being, and it all seems to finally make sense. Looking back at all those actions of selfish stupidity and self pity, you recognize all the things you took for granted in your life with deep seated regret. |

The way I take: A relationship (a house built on sacred ground) perhaps a marriage, but his partner slept with someone else. Which led to severe tension (cold sweats and couches), perhaps leaving each other at this point. The chorus I take as being desperate for anyone to help. To listen to your story, and get you through it. Going through a break up can be the loneliest time of your life. Next verse is about the delicacy you feel after a relationship ends. You're desperate for someone to fill the void of emptiness left from the last relationship. Idk just my thoughts, how it makes me feel. |

To get away from the thoughts about Bush... I think rather that it's about corruption of Christendom. The first lines looks like it describes a church, the second "tabernacle on the lawn" again sounds to imply a church setting, the "devotees dancing with the fancy minds on the promenade" could be showing the corruption of the churches, collecting money and being more of a business. I think the chorus is basically saying that through all of the corruption, he still wants to be a Christian, he wants to be able to know God, but be doesn't want to deal with the corruption. The next line is him maybe trying to get away from the church, but the next line says "she knows that my hands are empty, as I go past the mothers of envy," basically describing how people are forced to give money to the church each time they go, but he "doesn't have to fumble in the dark for my keys." In other words, he believes in God and religion, but he wants the experience without the corruption. The next line describes "the pupils gathered around the yard around the pulpit made of cards and waited for their leader's words, but they didn't make much sense." Which I think is saying again, that these people in church are taught to believe whatever their leader says, rather than open their bible and read for themselves. Most of the time, these leaders don't even use the bible in their sermons! Every single "religious" holiday isn't even based on anything in the bible! This leader makes God's word sound so cruel and confusing, making them believe that God takes children's lives because he needs another angel in heaven, or would torture you for eternity in a burning hellfire? These beliefs aren't even based on the bible! "His mouth spat out a fist of daggers and his tongue was swirled in a southern swagger." I believe means that these leaders have parts in waging wars, they don't try to keep peace, they pray for those in the wars, as if God would help our side and not theirs!? And then I believe the southern swagger part was referring back to racism, when church leaders wouldn't even let blacks into their churches, being racists and teaching the people whatever they wanted about these people, twisting Gods words. The court of Canes I believe refers to the leaders of Christendom, with their rich and high positions, as he takes a stand that he believes that this corruption is wrong, and he's punished for it, just like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, when they stood up against corruption and false religion, also making references to those who were "slain" for their beliefs, or at least attempted to, Daniel with the Lions, David with Solomon, James executed, and Jesus, impaled. The next line again, shows that these people were punished for "rising up against the mess, and because their power posed a threat, and because they spoke of something else when everyone else didn't." The next verse says "the music fills the space between the deities and prophecies, of our bodies pressed endlessly silent in the sand." Saying, the churches have so many extra activities, fundraisers, government affiliations, money making, and even when you notice it, it's too hard to get out because they strike the fear in people of being punished with eternal hellfire if they try to get out of this corrupted religious practice, so they all end up keeping silent in the sand. "She looks at me so fearlessly, and I take it too seriously, but it all becomes so clear to me, and makes me understand that she's mine." Basically i think saying here, that he still is keeping his faith, and basically says that even though it's so corrupted, he doesn't want to displease his God with inactivity, so he stays again, with the church, mainly probably because he thinks that all religions are the same way. *I don't mean to offend anyone, so don't take it too seriously, this is just what I interpreted here. |
