You are exactly right, even just a song can change you. Songs carry so many individual meanings to so many different people. You can hear a song on the radio and it makes you feel so uplifted because it reminds you of a good time in your life, or the message in the song gives you hope. When my father passed away there was a song that we always used to dance to together and when I hear it on the radio it makes me feel happy because it reminds me of the good times I had with my father. And to always appreciate the happy memories and not the sad ones. Your story is amazing. |

This song could be about her questioning her partner's feelings towards her. He is unsure whether he is truly in love with her or not and she is hoping he will commit to her. She goes from: 'I don't suppose you'd shoot me dead again." Meaning she is worried he will break her heart again. to: 'Cos I feel like I'm in heaven dancing with an angel.' And the fact that even when Robin Thicke performs live he has to have one blonde, one black, and one brunette female backup singers, (that are not even singing) is also very sexist. Maybe this song is about a car crash? Only because when you read the lyrics; "We're hollow like the bottles that we drain" so they've drunk alcohol "You drape your wrists over the steering wheel" "We might be hollow but were brave" A lot of teenagers take risks to be cool and impress others, 'hollow' meaning they are not thinking straight or are feeling empty inside, and are putting on a brave facade. " I can tell that you're tired, But you keep the car on" He continues to drive even though he is not in the right frame of mind. "I'm glad that we stopped kissing the tar on the highway" I'm confused with these lyrics, because if they were 'kissing the tar on the highway' that means they probably would of had a car crash. But they have 'stopped' so I really don't know. If anyone does know can they reply? Cos I'm really interested to find out :) I think this song could be about the decisions teenagers make without thinking them through, and they way they act tough or brave to impress others. |

This song is on the ad for Estée Lauder's perfume called Modern Muse. This song is slightly tacky but good nonetheless. It is very sweet and romantic and something you would serenade a girl with. If a guy rolled up at my front door and sang this with a bunch of roses in his hand (or something like that) I would probably marry him then and there (ok I probably wouldn't but you get the idea.) So about the lyrics... Bruno is telling his girl he loves everything about her and she shouldn't change because she's perfect just the way she is. This guy is amazing live. When he sang at the Logies last year it confirmed to me this guy is a true artist. |

Music videos either make or break a song- this one made me love this song even more, and watching him live at the Arias 2013. This guy is a genius! His voice sounds even better live. I believe this song is about a girl he loves who is slowly changing before his eyes. "I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations" meaning he'd conquered that fear and now he's found her. "All my friends are turning green" His friends are jealous because he has this beautiful girlfriend. "Lady, running down to the riptide, Taken away to the dark side". His girlfriend gets caught up with bad people or an addiction or something that is changing her ways. " i wanna be your left hand man" But he loves her so much he'll still stay and help her no matter what happens " I love you, when you're singing that song, and I've got a lump in my throat, Cos your gonna sing the words wrong" The relationship starts going downhill because she's saying things and doing things that are out of character. It makes him feel sick inside that she's not the girl he first met. "This cowboys running from himself" Meaning he's confused with why she's become this way so he questions himself and that maybe he's he's not good enough. "And she's been living on the higher shelf" He's always worshipped her and put her up on a pedestal. "I just wanna, I just wanna know, If you're gonna, if you're gonna stay" He asks her for the truth, he wants to know if she really loves him. And that's my interpretation of some of the lyrics in this song ;) |

Before I write anything else- Lana Del Rey is a genius. Her voice, her songwriting, her music videos, completely and utterly awesome. After listening to this song (basically on repeat!) and reading these lyrics, this is how I interpret Summertime Sadness; She is recalling the memories she's had with someone special (probably a partner or a close friend) that had either died or just gone away. I think lana is also just setting the mood of 'summertime sadness.' When your meant to be feeling so happy like everyone else when really your not, and there is more feelings of sadness and loss beneath the surface. Everyone that reads this MUST watch the music video cos it's really good!! :) |
