This song is about being gay. "Flying the bird" is a lesbian euphemism for fingering a vagina on public transport - in this case the underground. The first verse is very straight-forward. The other verses less so but my thought is that it refers to a specific incident in Asia on a bullet train. |

This song is about being gay. "A loom of metals warp woof wimble" is a reference to Wiff Womble, one of the characters from the children's tv show 'The Wombles'. He had a loom which he would use to make metal objects which were required. He was, after the show was cancelled, exposed as being homosexual with many of the storylines and instances being about his sexuality.
"Dirigibles" are phallic shaped airships while "a thimblesworth of milky moon" obviously refers to the ejaculate. |

The song is about being gay. The blower's daughter is a euphemistic reference to one's own penis. He tries to drown his homomongering erections in cold water - a common practice in Ireland in the 1940s and again in the 1980s. The erection would be lost but the homosexuality would not. It was called 'todger-dunking' or 'freezing the gay out'. Theoriginal third verse made reference to "todger-dunking slag". |

I didn't think the definitions of meteorite, meteor and meteoroid were so wrong. Meteorite is certainly the source of the light tail and meteor is certainly what we see (being the tail) and meteoroid certainly has no tail as it is travelling in space. The only bits that are dodgy are that a meteoroid can have a tail as it enters Earth's atmosphere before it breaks up and that a meteoroid isn't propelled to anyone as it never reaches us, but at a stretch I can say that she is still referring to the meteorite by comparison. All in all, it struck me initially that meteoroid was wrong as it seemed to suggest it was the meteorite once it had landed on Earth but on review I certainly can't say they are absolutely wrong. |
