Since this is from A Thousand Suns, and has to do with nuclear war - I think this song is about the happening of a nuclear war, and is the 'story' of a man who is going to die very soon. He can't do anything, he's... waiting for the end. Sweet Home Alabama came first, as it was released in 1974, this song in 1978. Also, I do like Kid Rock, but he definitely isn't the greatest artist of all time, not by any chance. |

What a great song. Even if it's about a toy, you can put it in a real life way because it sounds like a break up kind of. I think this song is about drug addiction - I know, it's kind of a cliche to think of a song as drug meanings, but... let me explain. I ain't happy, im feelin' glad, I got sunshine in a bag - He's probably high or something when he says "I ain't happy, im feelin glad", and 'Sunshine' is usually seen as a metaphor for a new beginning or a happy thing, so he's got himself what he sees as something that makes him happy in his 'bag'. Im useless, but not for long - He think's he is useless and a terrible person normally, but he's going to take his drugs which transforms him into something he sees as 'useful' (Not sure what the "The future is comin' on" is, might be saying that if he keeps the drugs up, a bad future is coming.) (The verses are sang from the drug's viewpoint.) Finally, someone let me out of my cage - the drug is now getting it's chance to 'latch on' like a parasite Now, time for me is nothin' cuz im countin no age - he'll always be there telling you what to do, he has no time, he's always there. Now I couldn't be there, now you shouldn't be scared - trying to lure the person into a false sense of security, saying that drugs aren't dangerous, only to 'control' the victim. Im good at repairs, and im under each snare - See above, he's saying he can repair the broken person that's thinking about drugs. Intangible, bet you didn't think so I command you to, panoramic view, look i'll make it all manageable - Is saying that 'bet you didn't think about the negative's' or something like that, and he's controlling the user to look around in a panoramic view, and is now saying he'll make his life easier. All you different crews, chicks and dudes, who you think is really kickin' tunes? - saying drugs are available for everyone, and is asking who's REALLY running your life here? Picture you gettin' down in a picture tube - A picture tube is what helps shows the pictures on a television, so he's saying 'Picture you thinking and running your life' Like you lit the fuse - Drug is basically saying you started your life, im going to control the rest of it You think it's fictional? Mystical? Maybe, Spiritual, hearable, what appears in you is a clearer view cuz your too crazy - The person is denying drugs, and the drug is trying to again lure him into a false sense of security. Lifeless, to know the definition of what life is - The way the rapper said this line was as if that was the definition for "lifeless". The drug is telling the addict what lifeless means, or what the drug thinks it means. If you know what life is, you're lifeless, the drug is saying. Priceless, for you because I put you on the hype shit - He's saying that drug's are priceless and precious, and you should thank him for 'putting him on the hype shit', the 'hype shit' being drugs Gunsmokin, righteous with one token - saying all it takes is one to start the addiction off Psychic among those, possess you with one go - Once again saying all it takes is one bit to start an addiction. I could go on, but you get the jist of it. |

I think this song is about a woman that commits suicide. My reason why I think this? I could go on for hours, but most simply are these lines. "Well she wants to be the queen and Then she thinks about her scene Well she wants to live her life Then she thinks about her life Pulls her hair back as she screams I don't really wanna be the queen I, I don't really wanna be the queen I, I don't really wanna be the queen I, I don't really wanna live this" She thinks she wants to rule all or to be a royal figure, but she thinks about all the people she'd have to please. Then she starts thinking about living her life. She thinks her situation is too stressful or bad to handle. So, either she suicides by tugging her hair and falling to her death, which is unlikely, if she wanted to fall to her death she would have jumped or just fell, OR she just suicides in general. Of course, this is just what I think it is. |

I know this meaning isn't real, but it's my own interpretation and I like to think it's real, so please respect that :) I take this song as a story about the World Wars, and the kid is being told to "Pay no mind to the rabble" and Rabble can mean a gang, mob, things like that. I think they are in an underground bunker and the parent is telling the child to go back to sleep, and to pay no mind to the masses outside, the gunshots and explosions. |
