Pearl Jam – Off He Goes Lyrics
|
Says to me that this song is about someone working in a
high-powered stressful job, who has lost the able to do the simple things like converse with friends and chill out. The kinda guy who is always on his mobile phone. He listens to the warning to slow done but can't help himself. |

Pearl Jam – Present Tense Lyrics

Is this the closure to grunge? The band which was so attached to the nihilist sound of the early 90s, finally find hope in the world and become happier with themselves. |

Pearl Jam – I Got Shit (I Got Id) Lyrics
|
Are these the right lyrics? I thought that the lines were:
"And I fight back in my mind, never lets me be right" and "if just once I could feel love, i'd say it like I mean it".
Reminds me of starting University and having very little confidence in myself, though outwardly looking so controlled. |

R.E.M. – Imitation Of Life Lyrics

This is a song about the desire to be a celebrity and the cold reality of what it is actually like. The Koi and the goldfish bowl lines suggest that being a celebrity makes you an object for a voyeuristic public. |

Moby – That's When I Reach For My Revolver Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Jesus, I hate it when people put claim that a song belongs to someone simply because they like that guy......for starters, Moby released this in 1996 on his Animal Rights album, Graham Coxon released it five years later......this song is Mission of Burma's.....accept. Plus the Graham Coxon version is cack. |

Live – Top Lyrics
|
Songs about being a 17 year old guy who is forming his opinion that he will keep in later life. It is a time of teenage anger and curosity, where you read books like the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Doors of Perception, UFO books and Mein Kampf. Song comes in just as the guy realises that these extremist or out-there views are wrong. |

Linkin Park – In The End Lyrics
|
........and lets be honest....the bridge to this song could be an N*Sync number. What is wrong with pop sensibilities in rock music? Just cos it has a tune doesn't mean it sucks. Linkin Park are bubblegum rock (not as much so as Limp Bizkit) but that aint necessarily a bad thing. You guys will be hiding this album from your kids like your parents hide their Whitesnake and Foreigner albums.......... |

Linkin Park – In The End Lyrics
|
OK, the point of this is to see what other people think a song is about, not saying "like hey man, LP are like the coolest band ever" (in a bad American accent). Yes, the band, album and live sound is good. We know that. This songs has got to be about relationships when you are younger......how you think at 17 that this relationship is gonna last forever and when it doesn't, you get a nihilist sense of anger and loss. |

Counting Crows – Recovering The Satellites Lyrics
| 22 years ago
|
This song is about never being able to escape your upbringing, and despite what facades you put in your way, you are a product of your childhood. He describes youthful, wild-eyed ambition ("the wildest people they ever hoped to see "), painful adolesence ("Your mother recognizes all you're desperate displays
And she watches as her babies drift violently away"), the hope and dreams of getting to that place they call adulthood, and then the realisation on achieving this of where you came from (" Gonna get back to basics "). The home town is personified and those that leave are satellites that feel gravity's pull of this place, and one by one the realisation that the town was what shaped their minds....is the recovering of the satellites.

Powderfinger – The Metre Lyrics

|
This song reminds me of driving along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. Like most songs on this album i think it is about coming to terms with where life has led you, and learning to appreciate that you are doing OK, no matter what life throws at you. Success isn't about possessions. Success is not having to wear a suit everyday. |

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics
|
This song is blatantly about loss. Trading dreaming and hope, for realism and the outside world. Could be taken as a song about a loss of childhood. It is a song to someone on the other side of a barrier (whatever taht barrier may be). I know little of the Syd Barrett story but it seems to fit with that. |
