I think this song is about Adrian Borland's mental illness, and it brings his own obsession with duality:
"some talk, some laugh vs. some talk, some cry"
That's a recurrent subject in Adrian's Lyrics, and he said that he could only write about his life, about things that happened to him, I think that's what majes him so special, he was a genius, one of the best songwriters ever, if you ask me. |

This is one of my favorite The Sound songs end Adrian Borland's too, he said in an interview:
"It's emotional, It's angry, it's a song about what you often feel when you're in love, you actually spend a lot of time feeling angry, I do."
I think this lyrics are very straightforward, the frustration when the person you still love doesn't seem to remember all the good things of being together, trying to bring back those memories in the hope that things get better, not giving up even when everything seems lost and I think that was one of Borland's recurrent subjects, some of his lyrics are mellancolic or depressing, but he wrote a lot of songs about it, like "Winning" or "Barria Alta" to mention some. |

I don't think they made those hard to understand lyrics on purpose, but I agree with you, it's a little difficult to understand what James is singing, is it because their welsh accent? |

That's awful, and they do it all the time. I live in Mexico, and here government has been making arrangements to flood a XVI century town to make a dam and it's really sad because people are against it, but government always do as they wish. |

Richey's lyrics in this album are absolutely brilliant, this is one of my favourites, when it says "But I can change, my cocoon shedding," I love it, so powerful and ominously evocative, a forced metamorphosis as a protest against nature, destroying the current body so the desired one can finally emerge. Not indulging, not condemning, just describing what he saw there. Thank you, Richey, wherever you are. |

For me this is a song about anxiety, insomnia comes as a consecuence of that anxiety. Broken thoughts, pieces of sleep, fragments crawling, everything becomes fragmented, the mind loses focus (Broken thoughts run through your empty mind).
This lyrics remind me of Fight Club, when the narrator says "With insomnia, nothing's real. Everything is far away. Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy."
As anxiety grows and the mind loses focus some people gets paralized, like an animal looking at some car lights, one knows what will happen if we don't move, but somehow we can't (Endless hours in bed, no peace in this mind). |
