Panic! at the Disco – Miss Jackson Lyrics | 10 years ago |
It's "Are you not staying", not "Are you nasty" |
Panic! at the Disco – Vegas Lights Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I do believe the lyrics are "Where villains spend the week IN the deep end..." |
The Welcome Wagon – Sold! To the Nice Rich Man Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Oops, that was supposed to be in reply to tom0063. |
The Welcome Wagon – Sold! To the Nice Rich Man Lyrics | 12 years ago |
No, the rich man here is recognized as good because of his actions, not his power. "Rich man came to pay the price He paid it all, he paid the now He paid the royalty, he paid it in full He paid it for fools who wandered and drooled Full of life, he's twice as nice" There is no worship of power here, only goodness. |
Tennis – It All Feels the Same Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Definitely talking to God here, especially based on this line, "constantly told we're imperfect and cannot be good", and in the context of the next song, Origins. |
Kimbra – The Build Up Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I wonder what Kimbra's religion is. She mentions Psalms, not knowing salvation from the pews, and, in this song, praying. Interesting stuff. |
Beirut – Vagabond Lyrics | 12 years ago |
That's what I thought as well. Not sure, though. |
Jon Foreman – Revenge Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I don't think it's about any thief in particular. Jon is just using it as a metaphor for what God has done for sinners. All Christians are thieves that've been robbed of the chains of sin. |
Tennis – Origins Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah, ok, the more I listen, the more I get "God, sure, you're perfect, but we're just humans. How can you possibly expect us to be perfect like you?" - "Have you confused your power with mine?" |
Tennis – Origins Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Not sure of the attitude the band is coming from, but this is hard to read and not immediately think of the fall of man in Genesis. "Inquisitive mind, you're destined to find Tempted fate and knowledge divine" - The serpent tempts Adam and Eve with the knowledge of God "View in there a pitied pair" - Adam and Eve "Denoted by a scene unfair" - Sounds like the speaker believes the judgement was unfair? "Will you make my children bear the consequences everywhere?" - Sin being passed down from generation to generation Maybe my interpretation is way out of whack, and if not, there's a number of different things Tennis may be saying about the story. Either way, that's how I see the song. |
