| I still listen to that album, CD, on my ipod now at age 36 I first started hearing it in school in 1989, and I love it as much or more.This is one of my favorite FNM songs as well as one of my favorite songs I have ever heard, the meaning to me wasnt relevant to how much I loved it at the time, then I grew up from age 14, started using heroin and started having sex, and in my mind that could be what this is about, either one, or neither. Its open to interpritation, since Mike never really came out to say exactly what it is. I agree he had the masturbation shirt, and that could be this song too.I agree, wholeheartedly, having sex is great, but doing it alone is best.You can be anything when you do that if you are an erotic person. Funny how people only think guys do that stuff?!?! IT does describe heroin if a person has experienced heroin fully good, without a lot of pain like I had.How does anyone really know that Mike didnt use drugs? Lot of singers claim they are drug free, or have no experiences with them, but they cover whats real for publicity sake.I know of at least one other singer who claims to be straight edge and always has, but secretly does drugs, it is a fact, and people need to realize that.Maybe Mike only used it once? ANYONE EVER THINK OF THAT? If someone were to try it only once, it wouldve felt exactly like this song, all good, no bad, the best feeling without end.I doubt so many people who have tried it would agree it could be about it if it weren't at least in part. I also agree it is obviously about orgasm too.People take the creating a life inside a life line and immediately say, OH ITS ABOUT CHILDBIRTH. Even a guy knows childbirth is PAINFUL AS HELL, he can see that, and wouldn't claim it is "ecstasy" to do so, ridiculous!I am sorry, but I have had a child. ridiculous.I am sure whatever a person really loves, drugs, or sex, or masturbating, or even some other thing unrelated, could find this song to mean that a little, however.Most songs have more than one meaning.Absolute emotion comes to everyone differently, and only gets that extreme in a few cases.Love, drugs, sex, orgasm, religion,jealousy, hate, Etc. and this song is about the positives of those extremes. Byt he way it does mention a little bit of pain, off and on, too. Its just far far overshadowed by the good feelings. People taking about acid here, probably do not realize that when someone takes really good heroin, they DO in fact walk around with a feeling that everything is unreal, and like the world is almost, akin to a Movie backdrop, or like they are standing around watching unreality.Not like ACID, but somewhat the way a person whod never taken it might think it feels? I have felt this many many times, unreality in the middle of reality, and I do not take hallucinogens. | |

| when I was around 12 years old my favorite bands were Metallica and Danzig/Misfits? samhain. I liked BOTH OH MY GOD isnt that crazy???!! and I still love both now at age 36. Though Danzig has replaced James as my fav singer now. I listen to BOTH weekly.And Danzig too. Punk and this band were meant to sound that way, and did not have fancy equipment or money yet. If you think it sounds bad or out of tune, you are not understanding the music at all. Even Metallicas first album sounded less perfect than the rest, becasue it was recorded with the least money. So what? It is one of their best also. I happen to listen to far more metal than punk, Megadeth, Slayer, Danzig Queenryche, I also listen to some grunge, like AIC. Etc. but I adore the Misfits too. And that is OKAY. People can love what they WANT, and do not have to like only ONE type of music. | |

| I do not think he promoted it nor justified it, NOR did he assume it ruins everyone that does it, and I have to say here that I was actually a heroin addict, and I actually knew Layne S. a little too.I have met several singers in my lifetime, and he was one of them. A person on heroin has alternating feelings of how much they love it and also at times how much they hate and are tired of it, and as someone who has gone thru both I think I understand the drug songs very well. Also, Jerry being in a band with a junkie will alter his own views of course, this was his good friend.He wanted him happy and out of pain, but also not sick and productive too. Drugs do not always ruin your life, hell my life was awesome then and still is now.But it is a message. Another thing about this album, the song angry chair was not only about drugs, it is also about punishment as a child, by a strict father and religious views. The thing is, anything Layne did in fact write, not Jerry but Layne himself, will always have a heroin undertone at any point in his life he was actually using it, because when you are on it, it involves itself into everything else you might do or think by default.this is not necessarily a bad thing, it is just the truth.Being both a heroin addict and a writer at the same moments myself, I wrote many things about non drug related topics, however deeper level the drugs were indeed still right there in my brain.On the other hand, the songs on the other side of Dirt are about the military and war, and Jerry C. father, in fact I think is the Rooster. Them bones is about death and the end in general. Songs are made to interpret anyhow so anyone who wishes to disagree is welcome anyway. I am a highly educated person with a brain in my head, who has had a hard life that I wouldnt change for anything really, when it comes down to it,because I have had the pleasure of knowing some of these folks. Also because I learned from it all.Also that I can sit and speak about things and show this world that some of we addicts are in fact not trash, we know a lot, have gone to school, and have talents.It is but one aspect of our whole selves, it just happens to include itself into the rest. | |

| This has always been one of my favorite songs out there as well as from Danzig, because it has undertones of an old 50s lovesong but made into a more modern metal song too. perfect combination. Blues and metal.He listens to people like dion and the belmonts ,and Elvis,and Roy Orbison actually.It also speaks of his earlier years with the misfits,in a way with the wicked love song thing, Die die my darling, Blood and tears, that is a great type thing because love is NOT all sappy and great as some sing it to be. People from both ends of the world, both shores, and also angels and devils from both sides-good and evil.Hell wins the spiritual battle, but Glenn is not strictly satanic, contrary to what some think.He isnt taking sides,he simply talks of both sides,of the hypocracy of both sides. Lilith from the Bible was supposedly a vampiric person if you look into it further, and this is true. The Lilin child song is another about that type of thing.Most of his songs have a lot of religious and Biblical background, he is very well read no matter what he believes in personally.I have met with and talked to Glenn in the past personally, and he is a very smart person, he has read a LOT, he knows his history.This entire album does have a lot to do with the bible area in which Caine and Able, Lilith and evil and good take place, yes.But it is about a lot more than that.Most songs have a few different meanings at once, obviously. | |
