Madonna – Mer Girl Lyrics 10 years ago
The perfect end to the perfection that is RAY OF LIGHT.

This is Madonna's second (after PROMISE TO TRY) most powerful song.

There is so much going on in this song lyrically that it's difficult to really pin down all of the emotions it captures and pulls out of me. It's that powerful.

Madonna – Drowned World/Substitute For Love Lyrics 10 years ago
With the fame part switched out for something else, I completely identify with what Madonna is saying in this song.

I've done things in the name of love and comprised myself for what I thought was love and it turned out there was no actual love there at all.

RAY OF LIGHT in toto helped me discover who I really am and what I should be. I came to terms with all of those different aspects of me as a human being with the help of RAY OF LIGHT.

Madonna – X-Static Process Lyrics 10 years ago
I bought AMERICAN LIFE on my lunch the day it was released. I went back to my desk, put my headphones on and listened to it.

When X-Static Process finished playing, I was in tears. It hit me that hard about an unrequited love.

Better Than Ezra – Desperately Wanting Lyrics 11 years ago
Maybe it's just me, but I tend to take the words in the song and use them to form a context for a song. I do the same with books, comic books, films, TV. etc. I don't care what the writers say about a song outside the song.

I don't see any indication in this song that it has anything to do with a fraternity or pledging a fraternity. To state that this song has to do with a silly frat initiation is dumb.

It's clear in the lyrics what the song is about:

Two friends -- one raised well with good parents, the other, after he/she "burst in the world, never given a chance," raised poorly by awful parents.

The friend raised well is trying to save his/her friend raised poorly and who messed up their life.

"They" are the physicians trying to help the second kid after a suicide attempt.

There's more to it, but it has absolutely nothing to do with pledging a frat or the initiation.

Alice in Chains – Rooster Lyrics 11 years ago
Did you actually listen to the song or read the lyrics?

If not, then maybe you should read what Jerry Cantrell has said about the song.

Cantrell's pop's nickname when he was a kid was "Rooster," because of his hair. The name stuck with him. "Rooster' fought in the Vietnam War.

If it was about "scotch snuff" (and granted, the way the lyrics are written, it may be referring to that for those two repeated words here or there, but "snuff" isn't what the song is about), I doubt Jerry Cantrell would be holding back tears throughout their Unplugged performance of this brilliant song.

Rachael Yamagata – Duet Lyrics 12 years ago
This is a beautiful song. I have it on at least a dozen of my playlists. It always makes me think the one special guy I let get away.
