| Gogol Bordello – Name Your Ship Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
You know It's time for a change But how And where do you start? When bitching And moaning And frowning And groaning And loathing And throwing Has torn you apart Sometimes you spend so much time bitching, moaning, frowning, etc., that you realize you can't keep living that way because it destroys you, It has torn you apart From deep within Left no vigorous cell Even in Eden you seek knothole to hell It destroys you so much that there's no more energy in you, but you keep digging in that hole of awful feelings ("even in Eden you seek knothole to Hell"). Even in what could be the happiest moment of your life you find a way to feel bad. Oh hey (Hey) Ho (Ho) Captain Crooked Grin Tell me where you trying to go What's the point of being like that all the time? He's telling you: you aren't going anywhere. You taught your parrot to stutter Now you repeat his old chatter But it is the way you name your ship That's the way it's going to row Oh It's the way you name your ship That's the way it's going to row You convinced yourself that your life is so bad, that now you keep repeating that and you can't change that thought. But, it's how you name your own life how it's going to be. If you decide that you'll seek for happiness, that's where your life is going to go. But if you keep saying "my life is awful", yeah, it probably will be. I think he uses the ship as a metaphore of people's life. Now in the beginning there was a word In the end there is no end People don't live or die People just fade in and out of the fog We come to comprehend Here the song seems a little more spiritual, he's just talking about how when you die, you don't just disappear, some part of you is still there somewhere. And now all alone with your crooked grin How you plan staying afloat Even the boatsman grab Bible And split from the boat How can you stay afloat if you keep living like that? You have to change, even the boatsman split from the boat. That would mean something like, even if your whole life went that way and that's who you are, sometimes you just have to change. In my opinion the Bible verse doesn't have to be about religion, as the boatsman grabs Bible and changes his path, you can grab something else and change your path. I'm myself an atheist but I still find this one of the most inspiring phrases ever. The rest is the same. Keep repeating bad things to yourself and you'll believe them, and they will make you a slave of your own thoughts, |

| Gogol Bordello – Lost Innocent World Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| In my opinion it's about him going back to the place he lived when he was young, and realizing everything has changed. His innocent world is not there anymore. | |
| Gogol Bordello – Hieroglyph Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song may be about someone who dies, and is telling some one else that he'll still be here. If he's gone, it's just an illusion. He has now became part of te universe, (he's unity, he's gravity). And he says he's hyeroglyph of love too, love is mysterious and he's just become part of it too. | |

| Gogol Bordello – Dig Deep Enough Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Only the ones who fight to reach happiness, freedom, love, etc., are the ones who get there. If it's raining and you wanna see the sun, you have to actually make an effort and reach stratosphere. Very spiritual song in my opinion, "and all of the feelings you could never explain, are coming to rescue from primordial brain" is definitely my favourite part. Those strong feelings living in the deepest part of your brain are reachable, but only if you seek for them. The title says it all, just "Dig deep enough", and you'll get there eventually. |

| Gogol Bordello – Against the Nature Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Well, I'm pretty late to comment on this. If you happen to be reading, enjoy my thoughts: Well, I confess I had myself a good laugh Remembering times of My provincial naive When I was ready To break horns of all the cows Just to establish myself As non-conforming Well, time has passed And I look back with a different eye And thought it's time to Re-enlist with wonder-why-guy I reached-a for a pen to sign a peace treaty But suddenly got up And took to running wild He's a grown up man now. He's no longer that young non conformist guy he was, now he's about to "sign a peace treaty with wonder why guy", which means in my opinion he's becoming more of a rational man. But he remembers his times as a young guy and wakes up, and "tooks to running wild". Against the nature Against the grain For as long and as far as you can For only there lays entertainment For a heart of merry-lasting man If you want to be happy and your joy to last, you need to go against the grain, against the stablishment (is that word correct in english?). What do you do, my friend When you are done with Investigating bounds of reality? Creating hundred of amendments For each one of commandments Ready to shoot yourself Out of curiosity, But wait, there is a way - ain't nothing new to say What do you do when you have nothing else to investigate? If you're a purely rational person, at some point you'll reach a moment in which you'll be tired, you will lose inerest. And that's when you're ready to shoot yourself, because you've been trying everything else, you feel like there's nothing new to do, that's the last thing that makes you curious. He is about to tell you that "there is a way", but you probably already heard that, there's nothing new about it. However... Just run against the grain. However, against the nature Against the grain Run as long and as far as you can For only there lays entertainment For a heart of merry-lasting man Oh, merry-lasting man Oh, merry-lasting man I wake up in a night Turn on my lamp Should contemplate, direction of my vector When I find small parcel from the Lord Fruit basket sprinkled with nectars And there I sit and my legs are strong All quiet, only voices dining fearsome I shove a piece of garlic down my throat Come on, hop down the stairs, come on You only eternal falls of reason He wakes up, and he needs to keep thinking. He needs to keep reasoning. But suddenly he finds a fruit basket sprinkled with nectars. Why is that a parcel from the Lord? In my opinion what he's saying is, you don't have to look up for big things to find a meaning to your life, you don't have to make the biggest discoverments, you don't have to be a purely logical person. You can find divinity in small things, so small as a fruit basket. That's why it's a parcel from the Lord, because all little things in your life are divine. That's when he tells to himself: Come on, hop down the stairs. You can't be just an "eternal fall of reason", sometimes you just have to live, feel emotions, just do something spontaneous, you have to stop sitting in your bed contemplating direction of a vector and actually get up and move (and run, against the nature). Oh, I needed so much to write that. It's one of the most beautiful songs ever written. And, excuse my english please. |
