Bob Welch was a great talent. He didn't have to end it all the way he did. I miss that era of this band.

Fleetwood Mac – Why Lyrics 5 years ago
Anyone who has not taken the time to discover Fleetwood Macs music that predates Buckingham Nicks, is really missing some great music. I prefer what they recorded in that era, and I bought it all on vinyl.

It's a shame that new generations only discover the Byrds through the mind sucking media they are addicted to.

Pretty & Twisted – Watching the Water Lyrics 6 years ago
Napolitano could never stop Mark Moreland from drinking, and she was tortured by her inability to do that. She wrote many songs with that issue as an undercurrent.
This song is really beautiful, but you'll probably never hear it.

Pretty & Twisted – Ride Lyrics 6 years ago
This cd was a collaboration between Johnette Napolitano and Mark Moreland.
It's out of print, I found it on Ebay used.
Somebody added the music video of this song on You Tube.
Check it out.
Mark was the subject of the song, "Joey," by Concrete Blond, written and sung by Johnette.
She could never succeed at getting Mark to stop drinking. He eventually died after unsuccessful liver transplant.

Jimmy Eat World – Hear You Me Lyrics 6 years ago
I discovered this song in a pretty odd way. I bought the cd when it first came out, but only ever played the up tempo songs. I have been slowly moving all my music to my MacBook. I moved new groups to my iPod last week, including the entire J.E.W cd.
I am 68 and retired. I was listening to random songs while doing my normal 5 mile walk, in this case in snow and 15 degree weather, when this song came up. I'm walking alone in numbing cold with tears freezing on my face. I listened to it for the the next 2 hours, absorbing its message of loss.
Most of you here have related your personal stories of losing someone. You are all young. Some of you want to give up. Don't. You will deal with many losses if you live long enough. It is always difficult, and it almost crippling to read some of your stories. Feeling depressed over death is natural, grieving and remembering will heal you until the next loss. Then it starts again. Please remember that your life has great value and greater potential. You must experience both loss and happiness in your life. You must see it out to it's natural conclusion. You will find
that the happy times will outnumber the sad ones many times over.
Use this song to renew your spirit.
It did mine.

Jimmy Eat World – Hear You Me Lyrics 6 years ago
@[pitbull:24684] Life is for the living. Don't ever give up. With living comes loss. The longer you live, the more losses you will experience. I'm 68. You would not believe what I have had to deal with in all that time. You have to grieve and move forward. Listen to this a hundred times to remember your loss, but don't let sorrow rule your life, or end it. You will never read this, its been too long, but I hope you are well and healed.

The Byrds – Old Blue Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is an old folk song from the 1800's sung at minstrel shows. I always wanted a dog that I could name, "Blue".

The Byrds – Bugler Lyrics 11 years ago
This song was written by Larry Murray from Waycross, GA, same town as Gram Parsons grew up in. He wrote this song about his dog, Bugler. Kettle Creek actually exists, and Larry used to play there as a kid. This is one of my favorite Byrds songs, along with Old Blue, another doggie song.

Sounds to me that the author is living with a women with depression, wishing he could get her out of it, but is forced to sink into her world. Like most men do.

Coldplay – Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't really know what this song is trying to say, but the music is exultant and uplifting. If you want to see what context this song can be played in, go to the Apple website and watch Coldplay perform at Steve Jobs memorial after his passing. It was their final song played, and was introduced as a tribute to Steve's support of the band. When I hear this song, it reminds me of reaching for greatness, of the indomitability of the human spirit.

Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over Lyrics 13 years ago
I first heard this unforgettable song, if you can believe it, while watching horse racing at Santa Anita Park, on HRTV. The two hosts were repeatedly playing it during races, absolutely raving about it's peripheral connection to the feelings those who are connected with racing and love horses have, during a race. They both guaranteed that it would be played by the major network covering the Kentucky Derby sometime during it's running. They took the the lyrics about '"horses are running, " literally and embraced that part of the song for their love of the entire world of hope, joy, and excitement embodied in the sport of horse racing. If you read the lyrics, "run fast for your mother," you can see why they have absolutely embraced those lyrics in this song. Read them again in this context. This is not what the song was intended to infer, but another segment of listeners have exulted in it's meaning to them, totally unintended. When I hear this song now, I forget the logical interpretation of this song and just see horses on the racetrack straining to fulfill the hopes and dreams of all those involved. Watch a horse race and play this song. Wow.
