Her Name Is Calla – Pour More Oil Lyrics 11 years ago
Perhaps "aircraft out of control" is a spinning out of control.

"Pour more oil" reminds me of one of the accused male witches of Salem who, rather than confess, proclaimed "more weight!"; it was an act of defiant self-destruction.

Fink – Looking Too Closely Lyrics 11 years ago
I just heard this on Suits, and I loved it.

Seems to be a song about heartbreak and cheating. About not looking to closely at the details because you don't want to hurt yourself.

Blood underneath fingernails implies scratching, either defensive or sexual in nature.

This is a cover of a song originally sung by a man. Slightly changes your interpretation.

Autolux – Here Comes Everybody Lyrics 12 years ago
I took it fairly face value, or at the least the first verse could be about a "lost" battalion in WWII. Surrounded and cut off, they're (the enemy) calling (artillery) on all downs (foxholes) you once made home.

Get poetic enough and the second verse could definitely sound like an pre-engagement artillery strike. Mixing it in with a metaphor of safety (a bank) and a collection (a bank) of guns (hydraullics).

Third verse could be the attack, coming from all sides, wanting the same things you hate (your death). Here they come, the people you don't care for (the enemy).

Just some thoughts.

Her Name Is Calla – Condor and River Lyrics 12 years ago
Since the song seems to be in two parts, and the title has two, and the second part references a river. It seems obvious that the first part of the song is Condor, and the second River.

But is it about a water accident or a murder? I'm not sure what condor is referencing. If is a lake, river, or a predator.

Her Name Is Calla – Pour More Oil Lyrics 12 years ago
The first verse seems like a topic of self-destruction to me. Pushing somebody away, but relieved in doing so because then they won't get hurt so much.

A wave of endorphins could also be relief. It's not much of a leap, but "aircraft out of control" bring to my mind a 'spinning out of control'. "blow to the back of the skull" is typically a surprise attack, or sudden realization. And "Pour more oil", as in adding more fuel to the fire of self-destruction.

Giles Corey, a defendant in the witchcraft trials, called for "more weight" as they pressed him to death.

Just some thoughts.

Francis And The Lights – I'll Never Forget You Lyrics 13 years ago
I can think of two possibilities for this, my first thought was of a war vet deciding to take his own life over some of the terrible things he's done. 'to 86' is a verb to discard something. He's going to 86 himself. Charlie from the Vietnam war, although Charlie was the enemy in that case.

Alternatively, it's the year Charlie was born, and he's begging forgiveness from someone.

Carissa's Wierd – On Marriage Lyrics 13 years ago
The only way I can make sense of this is as it were directed at two women, two stories in parallel.

One of a woman who cheated on him ["it's okay 'cause she's a slut], and he left her [when you're all alone], and he wants her to regret it.

And the woman he found [I feel home], married, and everything turned out okay in the end.

Damien Rice – Lonelily Lyrics 14 years ago
"But I lonelily landed my waltz in her hands." should probably be 'my wants in her hands'.
