Periphery – Priestess Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[DKB:1822] Yeah definitely. The whole story is roughly about a boy born into a cult. The ritual performed during his birth was an attempt to birth a demon of some sorts (him) the rest of the album goes through what he does, his suffering and murders etc., and finally his redemption. I'm unsure exactly what this specific section (Priestess) refers to but the lyrics and story as a whole are pretty messed up. Also good luck on your recovery! |
Periphery – Muramasa Lyrics | 11 years ago |
On further listening I was wrong and it's definatly: "You asked these questions in subconsciousness But still, we choose to deny the flood surrounding nations!" |
Periphery – Erised Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Easily the best song on the album, next to the trilogy! |
Periphery – Muramasa Lyrics | 11 years ago |
You completely forgot the second half of the song. This is how I hear the lyrics including the said omitted part: --------- Somewhere in time, We welcomed in the fall But in the distance we can see shining clear, Our demise to be; We're not listening To ourselves! Ahh! You asked discretion and subconsciousness but still, we choose to deny the foresaw altercations! Wake up! The water is rising, now! We are the universe inside of you waiting patiently! All the world, by a thread Distance the lies that are sold, (But wait!) They will not justify the pain! They will not live to save the day! |
Symphony X – Dehumanized Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Who the hell changed the lyrics? My lyrics were perfect and now they're ruined! |
Symphony X – Frontiers Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is an amazing song, its a shame it isn't on the official release of The Odyssey. Oh well, I sitll consider is the official closer to the album, at least on my ipod :P |
Symphony X – The End of Innocence Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I completely agree with this, I also like how you pointed out that parts of this song are from the view of the machines, it never occured to me before :) |
Symphony X – Reign In Madness Lyrics | 13 years ago |
At first I thought it was stylization too but the capitalization seems to be very specific and thought out, as msot songs do not contain any capitalized lyrics, the only other songs that has a significant number of capitalized words is Iconoclast, hence why I mentioned that the two seems to be very similar, i.e. opening-ending. Well thats my 2 cents, sorry I just felt the need to justify my vie again but your view of random stylization is just as valid, after all bands such as Sym X like to hide certain themes in their lyrics. Pure genuis really :) |
Symphony X – Oculus Ex Inferni Lyrics | 13 years ago |
In case anyone's wondering, the title is latin for "Eye From Hell" |
Symphony X – Iconoclast Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Hmm interesting thought, yes the reapers do seem to fit into this category |
Symphony X – When All Is Lost Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Agreed :) Listening to Reign In Madness atm, god I wish I could have that intro on loop, the keyboard riff is epic, yet so simplistic :P The lyrics are crazy good too |
Symphony X – When All Is Lost Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Haha, yeah I loved The Divine Wings, especially the epic song of the same name. The best concieved ending(for any album ever) for me would be Revalation(Divus Pennae Ex Tragoedia) flowing into The Divine Wings Of Tragedy. I wanna see them play that live. I think they've done something similar to that except they didnt play the full divine wings song. Oh well, I wish they would have repeated that tasty intro keyboard theme on Reign In Madness right at the end. it would have made me even mroe satisfied witht he album :) |
Symphony X – Reign In Madness Lyrics | 13 years ago |
My theory on this is that it this song is very similar to Iconoclast, as both follow the same concept(machines overtaking the humans) and this songs makes the circle complete. On an interesting note, I believe that all of the capitalized "phrases"(at least most of them) are names of machines or robots. E.g. "Crimson Horseman", "Genocide", "Omen", "Architects of Deciet" etc. I mean these words or phrases are capitalized in the lyric booklet that was included with the album and this is the onyl logical assumption that I could make based on why this is like this. The only other song in which this capitilization also occurs as frequently as in this song is in Iconoclast(the ties to which I just explained). |
Symphony X – When All Is Lost Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Hmm. I don't know. I love both songs, and both seem to end on that note of despair. I do find Reign In Madness to be a more fitting end as the last chorus seems to fully complete the circle. I think that Reign and Iconoclast follow the same pattern and theme as far as the concept of the album follows. I also prefer a more pwoerful/heavier song last but all of these things are just opinions. I love both songs :D |
Symphony X – A Winter's Dream - The Ascension (Part II) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I believe it should be "A fallen star divides the skies of infinity" and not "As fallen star divides the sky of divinity." |
Symphony X – When All Is Lost Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This is by far my favorite song of of the album. Its just so epic and beautiful at the same time. Its hard to describe what it's about, not quite sure myself |
Dream Theater – A Nightmare to Remember Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Well everyone has already firgured out what this is about (JP being in a car crash when he was younger). I just love this song, it kicks ass, the best bit is still MPs scream "RRRRAAAAAUUUUUUUUGHH" XD |
Iron Maiden – The Talisman Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I haven't really thought about what this is about, its a great song. By the way, this part: "No, there's noone going back No, there's not a second chance As we strap onto side We pray to God that we won't die" ...is wrong. It should be: "As we strap onto the side" |
Iron Maiden – Starblind Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Yes this makes absolute sense, I didn't think this was entirely anti-religious either. I know Hallowed Be Thy Name is about how faith abandones you in the moment you need it the msot, so I didn't rule out that this song might have some anti-religious connotations. However, what you said makes more sense :) Nevertheless, this song is beautiful |
Iron Maiden – Starblind Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I honestly am still puzzled about what this song is really about. The lyrics are remarkably good, even for Maidens standard. This song is easily my favorite song on the album. My guess is that this song has something to do about religion and how you can't always rely on it. But I'm not entirely sure |
Iron Maiden – Coming Home Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Thats spot on Octavarium(one of my favorite DT albums btw :) ) Although I would disagree with the retirement, because despite what everyone is saying, I don't think this is Maidens last album. I bet they'll continue to make music until they die haha But yeah, as Octavarium said, this song is simply about Bruce flying his plane and the chorus is about him landing it. Simple enough and still an awesome song! |
Iron Maiden – The Evil That Men Do Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I completely agree with this. However since I'm somewhat of an optimist I have a slightly different interpretation. I think that in the second verse: "Don't you cry for me Beyond is where I learn" Is kind of telling her that she shouldn't feel any regret(indicating that she may have fallen in love with him too). Also I think each of the bridges: "Living on a razors edge Balancing on a ledge Living on a razors edge" Represents each of the characters feelings, and how they are torn between them. The first bridge is how the "hero" is torn between God and his love for her, not knowing which is right or wrong. The second bridge represents how the daughter is torn between her father and how she has fallen in love, questioning why she did it. The chorus is essentially both of the characters being angry at God and the Devil(the hero being angry with God and the daughter being angry with her father(the Devil). I do think that an underlying theme here questions whether some aspects of faith/religion are correct and that you should still do what you think is right. Well thats my take on it :) Its an amazing song |
Dream Theater – Only a Matter of Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song isn't actually that forced, it sounds a lot less "forced" when sung my LaBrie. the best performance of thi is on Live At Budokan where its an amazing song. As for the lyrics, they are about how Dream Theater fought and coped to eventually become successful(which at the time they were not very successful). Its about all that they were promised: A suited man smiled said: "It's just a matter of time You can have the world at your feet by tomorrow just sign on this line." And about their journey. Hence the metaphor of the ship at sea. And how they said that theyve come so far that its "only a matter of time" before theyre famous. Well thats my take on the song :) |
Led Zeppelin – Achilles Last Stand Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Omg, I can't believe no one has noticed this. There is an incorrect lyric in this. At the part: Oh to ride the wind, To tread the air above the din Oh to laugh aloud, Dancing as we fought the crowd It should be Oh to laugh aloud, With dancing eyes we court the crowd And imo, this is one of the best parts of the song. It really is a perfect song, the lyrics are amazing. You can just close your eyes and imagine you are on this adventure in a far away land :) Call me wierd if you must, but this song is that powerful. |

Iron Maiden – Hallowed Be Thy Name Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The best version of this song is on Iron Maidens Flight 666 dvd/live album. My favorite Maiden song ever, especially from Flight 666. Absolutely incredible song. Also a quote from Steve Harris (the bassist of Iron Maiden) on what the song is about: "having faith, whether it be in religion or whatever, but could that faith fail you at the last second when you need it most?" This just means that this song is about his faith failing him when he needs it most, the fact that he is being hanged can be symbolic to a similar situation where you have faith or just simply a man being hanged. Also you did not add the lyrics that are sang at the end: "Yeah-eah-eah-eah-ey, hallowed be thy name, Oahhh-oahh-ohhh, hallowed be thy name" (this answer many people questions why this song is called 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'). Also 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' is a frequently used term in a Cristian-Religion Mass. |
