i reckon this about us,the fans,and the effects of dez's idol like status. we all want to achieve what he has,metal god and wealthy etc. but in turning to devildriver and other metal bands we put that burden{The reach man bears the burden that the poor man seeks to chase} upon him, so he turns to peace and quiet to escape it, but in doing so feels he isnt part of us all. but he has (in this song) just stated thats what he does and how he is. and its a bitter pill for followers to swallow to know he doesnt lead the same ideals in life we all hope to gain from his influence. very deep song i think i agree with where you were going merllin,but i think its about someone with a girlfriend and knows she is the best thing to happen to them,the line in love like a rusted dog,to me says is there as a companion but doesn't show any affection/is cold,so she leaves. and the same in relation to their friend,He bring me life so full of smiles. he realizes that,all of the time my head in the fog, these people that hes lost he should have been with his whole life,hence,You should have never left me alive, You should have sat and watched me die. sorry that's rather long winded but i think i got my ruff point of view through,could go on for ages about it. |

| i think if you take the song for face value it is as oroborous said above,however do a bit of read between the lines. i seem to think its about how most people will be nice and stand by you and help you in certain situations becoming your hero and you've realized that they arent that type of person, they are 'grinfucking' you. villains or people you've looked down on as bad apples etc are really the only 'real' people out there as they show their true colors with no bullshit. basically we all try to be heroes but at the end of the day we are all guilty and victims of something deceitful,hence we 'pray for villains' true friends. | |
