@[Viperjon:37818] I agree. I think this is what it is about also. It's about a person who has all the qualities to succeed but life never gives him or her the chance. |

| Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show – When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman Lyrics
| 6 years ago

This song is pretty straightforward. When you are in love with a beautiful woman, whether she's your girlfriend or wife, other guys are always going to be hitting on her. If she's loyal it won't be a problem but if she's not its better to get out of that relationship as soon as you can. So its about always having to look over your shoulder, especially if she can't be trusted. Sounds like in the song he's at the point where he's not sure which type of woman she is yet. Considering this is a song from the 1970s let's hope he's figured it out by now. Lol. |

I've been reading the comments on this song and find it funny that no one has brought up that Pete Townshend is bisexual. Now usually that isn't something I care about one way or another, but I think it relates to this song immensely. He has a girl. He kind of likes her, but then again he likes the guys too. He's not really jealous because he's not sure he wants to be with her anyway. "Sometimes, I feel I gotta get away." Hmmm, wonder why? "But I know sometimes I must get out in the light" Yeah, COME OUT into the light. Can't believe I'm the first one to notice this. Lol. |

This song just reminds me of the song, "Don't worry be happy" by Bobbie McFerrin. I'm actually not really crazy about it to tell you the truth. I guess its just too simple in my opinion. The song is just about being happy. I guess I just expect songs to have a little deeper meaning. |

Its actually about a man that's not ready for commitment. Michael Nesmith wrote it. When Linda Ronstandt did it she changed the "girl" to "boy" but it was originally about a boy who wasn't ready for commitment. |

I take this song to be that he's kind of making fun of marriage, or at least people that get married for all the wrong reasons. I take it to be a very sarcastic song. "No matter what you do you'll always feel you tripped and fell". No matter how much you give in to society's standard deep down you will always know you sold out is what he's saying here I believe. There's a lot about settling too in this song. Like you settle for what you think you can get not what you really wanted when it came to life. That's my take on it. He's making fun of all the people that just follow the crowd is my take on it. |

| Katy Perry – Ur So Gay Lyrics

She seems to be using the "gay" the way it was used in the 1970s when I was a kid. Basically when something was wimpy or lame kids would say that's so "gay" not meaning homosexual but meaning wimpy or lame. Nowadays since the world has become so hyper sensitive to everything the word isn't used that way anymore but that's how I view this song's meaning. Of course she's in her twenties so I wonder if she was surrounding by older siblings or older friends a lot when she was growing up because since she's been alive the word probably hasn't been used that way. That's my take on the song's lyrics at least. |

| Neon Trees – Everybody Talks Lyrics

My interpretation is that he likes this girl and is after her. She seems to like him too. But when things start to go beyond kissing she backtracks. I believe in this case the use of "Mama" means the girl he is kissing not someone's actual mother. Her excuse is that everybody talks and that's why she doesn't want to go further.
"I'm a sorry sucker and this happens all the time" means he has heard this one before. Its not clear to me whether he believes her or not. Is she saying, "Everybody talks" to get out of going further? Or is he saying "everybody talks" meaning he agrees with her but who cares? Who is saying "everybody talks"? Depending on who is saying that would help me figure out more of the song. |

It's funny that there's no comments on any James Gang songs. I was just going to say that I think the lyrics to this song were just written as an after thought just to showcase Joe's nice slow guitar leads in this song. It's not fast but kind of a pretty song even though the lyrics I think were just filler. Just my opinion of course. Maybe someone else sees something deeper than that but I've always felt like the lyrics were just filler here. |

I take this song at face value. To me he's saying, "I think about you sometimes, but don't get a big head, I don't want you back, I just think about you sometimes." Very interesting to me. Considering most songs are to one extreme or another--either he's still head over heels for her, or he hates her, this one is interesting to me because he's somewhere in the middle like, "Yeah, I enjoyed our time together and have some good memories but I'm happy you've moved on because I have too." |

| The Commodores – Easy Lyrics

This is a song that it is very easy to miss the lyrics on and just think its about an easy going guy. If you really listen to the lyrics what he is saying is he's tried everything in this relationship and gave it his all but he can't deal with his wive's/girlfriend's ways anymore. "Why would anyone try to put chains on me?" "Everybody wants me to be what they want me to be". Basically he's saying she wanted him to be something he's not and he's sick of it and he's moving on and he's over her. Not exactly as easy going as the casual listener would think. I must have listed to this song 100 times on the radio and never paid attention to the lyrics but when I finally did I realized this isn't just an easy going guy. This is a guy that has made up his mind that he's out the door, never to return.

| Garbage – I'm Only Happy When it Rains Lyrics

I think I have a different take on this song. To me it reminds me of a very attractive woman who just is so bored because everyone is always nice to her that she makes up her own problems. I once saw an interview with Angelina Jolie and you could tell this was just a girl that got everything handed to her so in order to feel important I guess she created all these problems for herself. Of course she didn't say that in the interview, but watching it that was what I thought. I thought basically here is this spoiled brat so to get attention she would do things to shock people. I've known girls like this that are extremely attractive and get everything handed to them so to try to seem edgy they make up problems-they date psychos, cut themselves, take drugs, etc. That's what the song reminds me of anyway. |

| Van Halen – I'll Wait Lyrics

When I hear this song it seems pretty simple to me. Its about a guy who fantasizes about a supermodel in a magazine. He wants to meet her but doesn't feel he has a shot yet. This is just my guess but I think the line, "I'll wait till your love comes down" is kind of saying I'll wait until you're not so famous anymore. So maybe she's really famous now but maybe in ten years she'll be out of the modeling business and he thinks he might have a shot at that point. That's just my guess about that part but I think the general theme of the song is pretty obvious.

This song was popular when I was a little kid. I'm 40 now. I always thought he said, "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille, 400 children and a crop in the field." It's "4 hungry children". I just thought he was exaggerating to make a point. |

| Don McLean – Castles In The Air Lyrics

One of my favorite songs by Don McLean. I think the meaning of the song is pretty obvious. He's sick of the city life and what he sees as its shallowness. He feels the same way about his girl. He's going to leave both and go to the country to find deeper meaning. At least that's what I take from it. Part of it I also think is about the time in which he lives. He's longs for a more romantic time rather than the society of commercialism that he currently lives. The main character wants to go back to a more old fashioned time and meet a more old fashioned type of girl. Considering this song came out in 1971 I would be interested in what the narrator thinks of today's times which I imagine most would see as being a more shallow time than 1971. |

| Bob Seger – Still The Same Lyrics

I've always felt this song was about one of two people. Either a woman the narrator was involved with many years ago, or his father. I know there's nothing in the song specifically about a father, but as one of the people that posted here said above there seems to be too much emotion for him to be talking about a guy friend, but his father maybe. That's one nice thing about a well written song-it can have different meanings for different people. |
