It is pretty damn interesting to learn from so many fucking different ideas and points of view of the same fucking thing!!! I really do not think anyone here is at risk of being wrong. Upon reading the title i immediately thought of christianity but; even though they make a lot of sense, those thoughts about how stupid and hypocritical religious people are (not all of them of course)i cannot separate the relationship side of the song. 1st, people with pseudo values who judge, criticize and condemn others just for not sharing their faith or simply attending to a different church ha! self righteousness is just disgusting. On the other hand, the relationship (i think it includes every kind of relationship) part of it is unavoidable for me, the video shows and explains it way better than what i could do writing about it here. One last thing; have you notice that when the lines "Cold silence has A tendency to Atrophy any Sense of compassion" are sung in the video, it is almost at the same time as when the face of the male is shown in the screen and his eyes turn to smoke. Like saying my sense of compassion has been atrophied i wont cry "for" you any more, may be, i dont know, anyone got this? may be it is just me. Take care...

Besides what you guys said, to which i totally agree, i also think it is about not missing the big picture fighting your problems looking for an answer but also keeping in mind that someone may be worse off than you are. Not closing yourself to just what distresses you but also helping others if you get the chance to, the line line: God save the child who lives like a whore sounds a bit like a prayer right? or may be not... |

At first it struck me as being about someone who had lost his way and is not living a fulfilling life like he/she had intended in a first place and that you know what is going on but unfortunately you are in a position where you cant do anything for them but hope that the wind will carry that blackbird home so that he/she may never be broken again... |

This song is fucking bitching!!!!!!!! kicks ass!!!! I take it as being against people trying to force their pathetic rules and views onto others (politicians, religious pricks you name it)anyone who tries to tell you what to do to their own benefit , distorting reality enough to seduce you. To me it just screams out you are right!! not those muthafuckas who try to tell you how to think!! And also about how they try to stop you from thinking against them cause when you ask them deeply why they want "that" they cant really answer you. there are several lines that sound like they are screaming at these people. I believe the other interpretations here really add up to what the song transmitted me at first, that one about the war veterans and the one about the kid slashing the other one were really cool readings of those particular lines!!
