one correction "Crisis, a new world order" is "Since the new world order".
Great song though. The chorus rivals Born by Nevermore as the best I have ever heard. |

Blackened, this is metal. Bands express their ideas and views honestly without fear of criticism. Bands are respected for expressing their views, therefore having emotion behind them, and being good at what they do. Its not a "get eveyone to like the music, get money, start cults, and bash everyone else" type of genre. Its a "do what we want because we want to. If people like it, great, if not, oh well." Metal is taking advantage of freedom of speech. If you don't like the lyrics, don't pay attention to them.
I know this seems a bit random and all over the place, but its late here and I am getting tired.
Also great song with one of the best riffs I have ever heard. |

I find that the song is about the neverending war between science and religion and how people are torn over which side to choose. I think that might just be because I just read "Angels and Demons" though. |

To the people that think the lyrics are about mastubation, they aren't. Sundin doesn't write music like that. Look at some of Dark Tranquillity's earlier work and you'll see.
That being said I agree with mikeb and jesterhead on the meaning. It seems a lot like what Sundin likes to write about. I think the "kinetic energy of a moving fist" relates more to the fact that on action can spawn thousands of universes. Think of all the different places that fist could hit, and all the varying forces it could hit on each spot. Each one of those possiblities creates a new universe. Thus creating hundreds of millions of universes at each give second, by every possiblity of every action being done, or possible to be being done at that one particular moment across the entire universe. |

How are there no comments on this song. Its amazing. The sadness behind it is really brought out in the '94 version. Its like the raw form of Lethe.
I think it is about someone who has given up on life because of some traumatic event. He becomes very isolated and won't interact with anyone. He has adapted a misanthropic view and despises anything that he sees. Really a very sad song. |

I can relate to this. My dad dies when I was 9. My best friend dies when I was 14. You see them everywhere and every little thing reminds you of them in some way. You never recover. This is basically what this song is about. |

What, no comments on this amazing opener to an amazing album. One of the few American bands that can capture what is great about Scandanavian melodeath. On top of that they are better than average by far.
As for the meaning, I'm too tired to try to figure it out. Maybe tomorrow I will take a crack at it. |

| Dark Tranquillity – The Gallery Lyrics

The first DT song I ever heard and it got me hooked on them.
I view the lyrics as being about someone who doesn't fit in and is outcasted by society. "The fate of my art, condemned". To the people who do know him, he a "gallery" of spectacular qualities. "Every picture holds a tale; Every shade tells a thousand words". Yet he only sees himself as the public does. He get rid of all the qualities that make him unique to try and fit in with everyone. "Burning my art". |

I, like Dane, have had several traumatic experiences in life, though not as bad as some of his. It makes it very hard to trust a religion and harder still to believe in a higher power. You want to, but logic and reason won't let you. You eventually form a resistence to most religious groups and see religion as a failure in general.
I think thats where Dane is coming from in this song and several others. |

This song shows off how great Kalmah is at what the do. One of the few melodic death metal bands that stand above the others, especially in guitar work. Its just amazing. |

MAYH is a concept album as has already been said. I find that this song is when the ghost tries to confront his lover again after having seen her with another man. He had planned to kill her "You keep the dagger close at hand". In the process he turns his lover against him "False love turned to pure hate". He can't bring himself to kill her when he realizes what he has become "Demon Of The Fall". His lover sees him, realizes that hes the one who has been haunting her, and runs "She turned around and faced me for the first time. Run away, run away". He stays in the house and reflect on what he has done and he still can feel her prescence everywhere, knowing he can never have her again "Just one second, and I was left with nothing. Her fragrance still pulsating through damp air" |
