I think it's the narrator speaking to a depressed, or rock-bottomed friend/loved one. "Hoping to fade into the white"= hoping to end it all or just disappear. Also the visualization and metaphor of someone cast out alone and slowly sinking on a melting block of ice. I think Puscifer did an amazing job in setting the cold, distant, frigid mood, very reminiscent of H.P.Lovecraft's "At The Mountain's Of Madness". |

I just love that visualization I get from this song, as in a fish/or turtle heading back to shallow water where they began. Though the character obviously has an adolescent view and sensitivity to it, otherwise they'd tough it out like most stubborn adults do. I think "rolling the eyes back" means fustration of the other person towards the character's wanting to return back to the safer water. |

I love this song! I'm even doing a 5 page drawing project using some of the lyrics in it for my college drawing classs. I think the "White Elephant" means pure and rare among others. However if a king gave you one as a gift not only did it mean you were truly honorable but because it was so rare you had to keep it as a pet, thus the "burden" interpretation. I like to think of "white elephant" as the inate original ideal. Then that ideal get's tampered with and corrupted by "black crows" in a time when people need you for their saving. "The stakes are too low, whe may not need any" I think is a phrase that signifies things have gotten so bad that there are no longer high stakes or valuable things.
I sort of picture Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight as the white elephant that is has emerged to save the city but because of his corruption and duplicity has really doomed it even further. |

Why on earth this wasn't on the "GhostRider" soundtrack I'll never know. Missed opportunity for a great song. |

Honestly I think of "Saw" when I hear this song.
"I'm severing the heart then I'm leaving your corpse behind
Not dead but soon to be, though.
I won't be the one who killed you
I'll just leave that up to you"
but of course it's just an associative interpretation.
