| Jack's Mannequin – Dark Blue Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think this song is about having this huge, overwhelming problem in your life (I have you breathing down my neck), and how we struggle with it. "Dark blue" and "crowded room" represent the struggle in the song. We can just ignore the problem and hope it goes away (I'll swim as the water rises up) or we can try to do anything we can do to fight it even if it's useless (we were boxing the stars). The end, however, is imminent (and then the water reached the west coast), and the problem takes over (there was nothing we could do and it was dark blue). Still, we still have each other through the rough times (and it was me and you and the whole town underwater... have you ever been alone in a crowded room? well, I'm here with you). | |
| This Providence – Keeping on Without You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think it's about how a couple's going through a (long) "nightmare", and one of them (let's just say the guy) feels there's "something else waiting for you" because he knows that the other person deserves more. But then the girl leaves him all of a sudden, and even though he probably knew it was going to happen, he's totally heartbroken, with just her "holy ghost" (their memories). After a while, he starts to "keep on without you", but "prays you will come back one day". Similarly, in the music video, it showed loved ones seem to be separated for some reason, making their lives seem empty. Both sides definitely miss each other, but they both want the best for each other, and "keep on without you", even though it still isn't the same because they are missing each other. |

The "song" is like God's calling to tell you what to do for the better. Or, it can just be anything that's good in the long run, but people that aren't into whatever the song is will think you're weird or whatever. ^ I hope the second one made sense XD |

| Panic! at the Disco – The Piano Knows Something I Don't Know Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
For so long I never had a single clue about what this was about... but I think I know what it means now :) I think it's sort of like a relationship gone wrong. It begins with meeting the girl, and becoming very attracted to her (dancing fancy pirouettes), and there's something mysterious about her, so the guy wants to meet her even more (she's the smoke). When they get together, she sometimes uses the guy (jumping off the deep end of my tragic cigarette), but she's so beautiful he doesn't care (swan... a ballet), even though she does it over and over again (the never-ending swaying haze). Sadly, she knows that the guy doesn't like it (she's steam, laughing on the window panes), but does it anyway. Then, she does her final strike on him, I think she cons him bad, and leaves (everything's gone missing). The guy has nothing left, or at least feels that way, since he's so heartbroken. He's pretty much lost and confused, and doesn't know what to do (I can't prove this makes any sense...), but wants to know why she left, and what to do next (...but I sure hope that it does). He wonders if maybe it was bound to happen to him if he were to ever meet her kind (perhaps I was born with curiosity of the likes of those old crows). Old crows is "her kind" because crows are tricky and can steal your stuff without you knowing, and are just plain creepy, so no one really likes crows, but we don't really care about them either, so they're not that reported. The piano may be like a friend who knew the guy before, during, and after the relationship before the girl. This friend, who is more observant than the guy, probably knew what the girl was up to, but for some reason decided not to tell the guy because it was so obvious, and that probably ended the friendship (the piano knows something I don't know). The guy, sadly, didn't realize this until the friend was long gone. I think this because the song, and pretty much the whole album, has a pretty upbeat tune with not-so happy lyrics, which is what I can imagine being played in saloons long ago in like "the wild, wild, west". And saloons there would typically have pianos available for the public, where everyone can see it, and it can see everyone. If the girl and guy were to always meet at the saloon (or at least spend a lot of time there), then the piano would see their relationship from start to finish, and see the flaws and hints about the girl's disloyalty. Finally, the last stanza is also about the guy's life after the girl leaves. He pretty much gives up on simple things, like cutting his hair (I won't cut my beard, I won't change my hair). However, after a while, he does end up alone and forgotten, like a hobo (it grows like fancy flowers but it grows nowhere). I'm not sure about the last part, but this is what I think. With all his newly found free time, he has a lot of regrets about the girl, and always say that if he still had time to trick the girl before she left, he would do it (if I could build my house just like a Trojan horse, I'd put a statue of myself upon the shelf, of course...). If you didn't get what I said (which I barely do, since it was mostly rambling) here's a summary: guy meets beautiful girl. There are warning signs that she's up to no good, but he disregards them. She finally cons him really bad, and leaves him with nothing. He's heartbroken and worthless, and wishes he never met her. He also realizes that it was obvious she was doing something bad, and that other people saw it coming too, but didn't tell him. And, yeah, you can relate it to drugs or whatever you want "her" to be. Hope that helped ;) |

| Cartel – If You Do, If You Don't Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think the meaning's kind of obvious. It's about a guy dating this girl that he thinks is totally out of his league, so as long as she stays with him, he doesn't care what they do, or what he has to give her. Sadly, he always says that he doesn't deserve her, even when he is truly in love with her and needs her. | |
| Cartel – Georgia Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I don't think this song has anything to do with Georgie specifically, just the place that you think of as home. Maybe you grew up some place, but once you could go to college or whatever, you moved far away, and didn't come back until a long time later, when you had such a heavy burden to go back to you beginnings (the verses). When you're there, you wonder how your life would be different if you never left (the chorus), but then you're reminded that it doesn't really matter, as long as you keep on using your right to live (last stanza). | |
| Cartel – Wasted Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song is about getting caught up in the better things in life, and ignoring the bad things. Eventually, the bad things catch up to you, and you get even worse consequences. It's about "wasting" your life, and how much we just want other people to be with us in the time of need. Or something like that... | |
| Cartel – The Fortunate Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think it's about procrastinating a bit, but then always finding an easy way out when there are only "seconds" left. Even when other people think you're completely screwed, you still have a fallback plan. Still, you know that you shouldn't do what you're doing, and after a while of procrastination, it sort of loses its touch, and it's not thrilling anymore, and just think it's "alright". However, other people still remind you how fortunate you are to have fast-thinking skills. I think that's it. | |
| Cartel – I Will Hide Myself Away/I Will Follow Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song is about how you're trying to help a friend with everything you can do, and after a while they start to almost use you. But you're just so caught up in helping them, you don't realize that and that you hate what you're doing. When you realize it, you just need a moment to yourself, and "hide yourself away". But then you find out that your friend sincerely needs your help, and when you're calmed down, you decide to help them one last time. | |

| The Cab – Risky Business Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song is about a girl cheating on her boyfriend (maybe next time i'll call him up and call you out), and he finds out by seeing them together a lot (maybe next time you should turn around). He's wants her to dump the other guy, but she can't really do it, even though she tells him she will (put your heart where your mouth is). He's annoyed (you need to settle down), and tries persuade her (don't forget how well i know you), but gets annoyed again when it doesn't work (i'll take you down). But in the end, he also admits that he didn't give her his all, either (maybe i'm the one who plays the game, maybe i tend to make the same mistake). | |
