Electric Light Orchestra – Can't Get It Out Of My Head Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is very Lennon-esque. Sounds like something from John's "Number 9 Dream" era.

I have a different take. I see this song as representing a very simple, uncomplicated life, where basic things are appreciated. Being "cozy in your little room" is something many people would be happy with.

I always thought this song was about the loss of virginity.

Pretty sure it was Bill Bruford on the skins.
The middle piano section is beautiful.

And after the door slam you can hear footsteps of someone running away. Maybe it was the sound engineer who hated the song and had enough.

Billy Joel – Zanzibar Lyrics 15 years ago
The Ali segment is a direct reference to Muhammad Ali's boxing style in the mid-late 1970s. He would lay on the ropes and allow his opponent to whale away at him...giving away the round, but suckering his opponent into tiring himself out. Ali dubbed it "Rope-a-dope" and it worked most famously in his 1974 fight with George Foreman. But the more he tried it the wiser the opponents got, and wouldn't fall for it. The strategy caught up with him against Leon Spinks in February of 1978, when Spinks shocked the world by dethroning Ali in Las Vegas. It was shortly after then that Joel wrote "Zanzibar."
The "Yankees grab the headlines" was also an obvious reference to the Evil Empire, which was in the midst of a mini-dynasty in the late 1970s.

Elton John – Solar Prestige a Gammon Lyrics 15 years ago
I read somewhere that John did this weird song expressley for the fans who overinterpreted his other stuff(although Taupin wrote most of the lyrics).

The production of this song is amazing, especially the shimmering background vocals as the song fades out. Beautiful piece.
