Group suicide? "[Falling from] the edge" "Hang" "Dance with the dead" "Put reality to bed" "Falling all as one tonight" Not that the whole song is only about this, but this seems to be one of the topics. |

| Late Night Alumni – Run a Mile Lyrics | 9 years ago |

The artist's meaning is cryptic and this interpretation might not be correct, but here is what I think it means: The context for this is a relationship between a woman and a man in a dating relationship. "you might not run a mile" The "mile" is the commitment to marriage, a lifelong relationship. "If I gave an inch..." What is something that, if a woman gives a man, that would make him "get what he wanted" and then have no more reason to stay? The thing is sex. "You stood close to the line when I drew it" She set personal boundaries to avoid getting sexually involved, but the man "stood close" and likely pushed the boundaries, showing his true desires. "I see why Mona Lisa smiles ... she smiles at me" I am not completely sure about this, but the smile carries an emotion of sympathy to how the girl feels as a result of this situation. I might be wrong, so take this interpretation with skepticism. |

| I'm confused as to why he says that the Bible is an idol. That's like saying a definition is bad because it limits a thing. | |
| Project 86 – The Hand, The Furnace, The Straight Face Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Hm, I just watched a vodcast where Project 86 explained it. And I was wrong. The meaning of the title is about strength under pressure. Being able to stick your hand into the furnace while keeping a straight face. | |
| Project 86 – The Hand, The Furnace, The Straight Face Lyrics | 13 years ago |

To interpret the title "The Hand, the Furnace, the Straight Face", I think it has to do with the seeming contradiction of God's predestination and God's punishment. For example, God predestines some to hell and punishment. The hand is God's omnipotence–God's power. "Couldn't God have made it so that all people go to heaven?" The furnace is hell. The straight face is the question of whether God is fair in doing this. "If God punishes people for doing things that he knew they would do before he created them, is that fair?" So this song title speaks of the Problem of Evil. "The Hand, the Furnace, the Straight Face". |

This song conveys a bad message because it says that God is unknown. God is unseen, but he is not unknown. Moreover, it is not smart to trust something you don't know. But this cannot be applied to God because we do know God, to some degree. |

I'VE BECOME A STICK FIGURE . . . ILLUSTRATION This seems glaringly obvious to me.. It's a symbol of Jesus hanging on the tree. In the song, you can just hear the roughness and agony of Jesus going to the cross intent on sacrificing himself for the sins of the world. "My eyes roll back and focus on what's ahead." "I can still stand if you lend the hand to brace me" tells how Jesus pleaded the Father to "take this cup from me, but nevertheless, not my will, but Yours be done." Here, the word "standing" may mean staying alive. And finally, "I'll take this on my own." Jesus, before his last breath says, "My father, my father, why have you forsaken me?" The word "forsaken" means "left". God had abandoned him- he was alone. Also, he is saying, I will take the sins of the world on my shoulders. The punishment for any sin is death (Romans 6:23). And everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23). To be saved, we must (1) make Jesus our lord and master, and (2) believe that God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. We would be in a pickle if Jesus had not done this for us. It's definitely great material for a passionate song. |

| Underoath – Sálmarnir Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Here are the exact words: The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. Our God comes and will not be silent. A fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. [From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.] He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!" And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for GOD HIMSELF IS JUDGE! (emphasis added:) - Psalms 50:1-6 (NIV) |

I relly like this song, it has a mellow feel. And it's even better now that I know what it means and I can understand the person yeling in the background. I would greatly disagree with anyone who says that anyone in the band smokes marijuana. Nobody can live for God and smoke marijuana at the same time. Marijuana gets in the way of serving God. I learned this myself because I used to smoke weed. I used to be the one to say that it's harmless and should be considered normal. But now I have been changed by the hand of God, and I know what's true and trustworthy - to live a live honoring to God, and doing productive things. God's ways are true and perfect, and anyone who has figured that out will not turn from them. |
