Speaking as a writer, my first thought on these lyrics is that they could easily be about sex OR drugs OR actual sugar for that matter. It's pretty common for a songwriter (especially a good one) to write a song that works from multiple different angles. The whole bridge part about 'my friends ask of me' makes me think that this song is about some lost love or crush that's possibly returning into the singer's life, but that at its core has been wrapped in a metaphor that is vaguely sexual and/or drug related. I think all the interpretations are correct. The song just works on so many levels that it's easy for the listener to fill in the blanks however they see fit. Maybe. Or maybe the entire song is one big cunnilingus reference. Who knows? |

| These lyrics are so wrong. As in they are not the right lyrics for this song. I know some of his stuff is non-sensical, but "on top a mountain they'd a bubblegum", really? Anyone who speaks English can hear that it's a mountain MADE OF bubblegum. And don't even get me started on "pidgeon's cum". So so so wrong. Adam Green is hard enough to interpret without all these glaring mistakes. :P | |

"tend to when he seizure" should be "ten to one he sees ya" and i'm pretty sure it's "they ain't even worth the WORRY/LINE, on they first birth..." and it's definitely "get caught EARLY and boiled in oil like curly fries". so dope though. |

| i'm not a fan of eyedea's rock and roll efforts so much, rest his soul, but the part at the end seems to be about a dog or cat dying. i mean "while the doctor sticks the needle in", aren't needles mainly used to kill convicts and animals, as opposed to the terminally ill, as the song seemed to be implying earlier with the whole "pull the plug" thing? i don't know, probably overthinking it. decent song, i guess. | |

| I hate to disagree with every single person on here, but I think "she turned my dad on" is a misheard lyric that Gorillaz sort of grabbed onto and perpetuated. The song seems to be mostly about death to me, thus I've always heard the line as "she turned my DEAD on" (i.e. she made me kill myself? come on.) Now "she turned my dead on" may seem completely incorrect grammatically, but then so does "magic make no sound", so yeah. Add to that the fact that there's no references to father figures anywhere else in the song, or the entire album for that matter, but plenty of references to death and ghosts and zombies and the like. And if you're still not convinced....come on....."she turned my dad on" is just a ridiculous lyric to put in a song, even by Gorillaz standards. Now I could easily be wrong about all this, but I think it at least warrants some consideration. That's my two cents, peace. | |

a few minor corrections: "or why the UNPLANTED seeds won't blossom into a garden" "SEE, IF ALMOST only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades" (this is an old expression) "inhale - HOLD IN oxygen" "HOOK A LEFT AT envy to drown in greed" (seven seas/seven deadly sins) "the cradle WILL FALL AS crime rate drops" (i.e. when the bow breaks) those are the only ones i'm really sure of. love this song. |

| i think trying to find true meaning in any adam green song is pretty futile, but i do have a few comments on this one. first of all, the term cracker refers to a white person in general, not just a white girl, but in the song i do believe he's speaking of an actual saltine. there was a rumor around my high school that the hockey team did the same ritual, and i think the line "the last one had to eat it, and she did" is pretty funny because it really isn't an activity for females (or anybody, really). as far as the title, there's the part about the sweaters sewn to tits, combine that with the swastikas in the title and it reminds me of the patches that the nazis made jews wear. why they're made of cheese, i don't know, but like i said, adam green is not an artist whose lyrics should be analyzed too much. you may just go crazy. | |
