Linkin Park – Castle Of Glass Lyrics 11 years ago
I'll start by giving Linkin Park my appreciation. Without bands like this creating introspective, influential, and unique music, our world would be filled with more Bieber's and Jepsens'.

Many people will attach this song to the Medal of Honor influenced video, but the song was definitely not written with that in mind. I don't think it is about a soldier in the literal sense (but in a metaphorical sense, we are all soldiers).

The lyrics tell me of someone who has been negatively influenced by something external, and something within them has been deeply affected by it. A crack in a castle of glass is a structural weakness, although small, it is a weakness that could threaten the entire structure.

To me, the opening lines set the terms fairly well, "Wash the poison from off my skin, show me how to be whole again."
He wishes to be rejuvenated, cleansed from what has tainted him, and to be full once more.

The second verse is a bit harder for me to interpret, but seems to be regard the person that caused this taint or crack. (this person could also be the singer referring to themself, depending on your interpretation).
Someone offered wonder, security, and/or salvation "fly me up on your silver wing, past the black where the sirens sing"

"Warm me up in the nova's glow" refers to this false hope, a nova is an incredibly destructive force.
"Drop me down to the dream below" - the dream, the illusion, is false, but he asks to be dropped into it, but why?

"Cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass, hardly anything there for you to see." - Because he is insignificant, small, a tiny crack in an entire castle of glass. A small blemish on a beautiful structure.

The feelings expressed are ones of being insignificant and small, but there's a strange power to it too, perhaps the fact that the castle is made of glass is what proves this. A crack can start small, but with a little pressure it will quickly grow into a much larger one. Perhaps this is the transcendant part of the song, the fact that while this person feels so small and useless, they are in fact a key part to the integrity of the 'castle of glass', which could be a metaphor for a relationship, for society, for life, addiction, you name it.

Linkin Park is a fantastic band, anyone who hates on their music hasn't listened enough. The layering is fantastic. Robot Boy, this song and Burning in the Skies are some of the most powerful songs I've ever had the joy of hearing.
Don't close your mind, let the music free your soul.

The Beatles – I Am the Walrus Lyrics 15 years ago
Actually at the end, the chanting in the background at the end was a group of vocalists that sang,
"Get one get one everybodys got one!"
It wasnt 'everybody smoke pot!', but it kinda sounds like it.
Of course some bands put hidden messages into their songs, but in the 796 page The Beatles Biography, it says that this song was a bunch of random crap John put together to get a laugh at the people trying to interpret his songs. It says that he even said, "Lets see those fuckers try to work this one out!"
The song maybe had some meaning, but it certainly didnt have any hidden messages.
Do a bit of research before making dumb claims.

System of a Down – Spiders Lyrics 15 years ago
Remote surveillance, the loss of our privacy, etc.
Look at Facebook, MySpace, Youtube, the V-Chip, File Sharing Programs, etc. Its exterminating our privacy slowly.
Beautiful song though, the music video is very disturbing, but if you watch it you'll see several men observing the girl (the videos about some girl captured in this weird...dreamworld/water tank).
I figure the liquid thing she is in shows her dreams to the men observing, and the dreams are being manipulated by the "spiders"(The V-chip gives them sight, Of all the life running through her hair). Spiders are a nickname for the V-Chip btw.
Makes some sense to me, but still, very eerie, creepy song, but beautiful and thought provoking.

Scars On Broadway – Whoring Streets Lyrics 15 years ago
Yeah I agree, this album is very apocolyptic.

"Is there anybody here, who hears me crying? Im dying."
- That makes think of someone in pain (obviously). But their pain may not be physical, it may be mental. They may see what our world has become, and its killing them.

"Killing you while your killing me. Its time, to show all you people you'll never survive."
- To me this sort of means that we are too busy killing one another, to realize that without one another we will all die. We need each other to move on, but by exterminating each other, we exterminate ourselves.
