| Bloc Party – One Month Off Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Maybe this is a stretch, but to me, I think the song is kind of a homage to the Shakespearean play: Othello. Here's why: I the beginning with the 7 year bit, I first it as he was 7 years her Senior. Anyway, the song is about cheating and the Rage of a man when he finds out his girlfriend is cheating. This is much like Othello's rage when he suspects Desdemona's infidelity. The whole song really does parallel the book as far the speak of lies and longing to be elsewhere while their own relationship slowly crumbles. Not to mention the use of the word "cuckold". Several times throughout the play it is used. And this might be a little bit racey, but, Kele (the lead vocalist of Bloc Party) is of African Decent and he sings about a Caucasian woman ("Tanslucent and sun-bleached skin"). Just a thought. |

Um... I love this song (for about 3 or 4 years now)... When I first heard it, I absolutely did not put two and two together and see that is was about Michael Jackson (one of my most favorite artist) I fell in love with this song and decided to do move and more research, and found out it was about Michael Jackson, and then all of the coincidences hit me. And I fell in love with the song even more. Now that MJ has died, I just don't know what to do except for listen to his songs, and make several playlists. This is the only non-MJ song I listen too. I never thought he molested those boys, I just think he was in a state of mind that just permitted him to be a kid and have sleepovers and just have the childhood his father never permitted him to have. By the way, I have some lyric edits. lol... (wow I wrote a novel but I love this song and MJ so damn much lol...) "Streaming through the radio (what they did to his music when first was big ((jackson 5)) Dancing on the round (billie jean reference) Spread the word in stereo (concerts, VH1, radio, ECT.) At the speed of sound (how quickly he became famous, he was rapidly being heard/downloaded/ECT)" |

| Lily Allen – Naive (The Kooks cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Ok basically here is my interpretation of the song because the same thing is happening to me now: *takes in deep breath* Ok so a girl likes this guy. And the guy she likes is naive. This is because another girl likes him as well and he cannot see this. But the other girl who likes him wants to destroy the girl so that it is only her. And that girl who is being destroyed at, she is telling the guy she likes that he is naive for not seeing this. Btw Im the girl who likes the guy, not the guy, or the destroyer... So yea... Lily Allen is genius! |

| Britney Spears – Womanizer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ok, I think we can ALL agree the song is about a girl who finds out this man's secret for moving from girl to girl. Obviously he wants her but she won't let him blah blah blah so on and so forth, but DAYUM! Britney's song is her biggest hit yet! The beat, the song, the music video. Wow! Good Luck Brit and Good job so far! | |
| I Monster – Daydream in Blue Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Okay so basically this song is not a comparison but merely a dirty daydream on a beautiful day. Haha, kind of like the song. And the music video is hilarious. The whole song is hilarious! I love it! I LOVE it! I LOVE IT! | |
| Ricky Skaggs – Cat's in the Cradle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song makes me weep with tears. It is about a father who is not there for his son so he ends up watching his little boy grow up without him. Life pass you by. | |
| Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song makes me cry. My school chorus sang it and I fell in love. Like literally started crying... It is a trés trés trés sad song. And it is very beautiful. | |
| The Beatles – Eleanor Rigby Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Personally, I think the song is (obviously) about being alone. Whether or not Paul or John (though I do think it was Paul) wrote the song. It is the Beatles and we can all agree that they are god. Which such lyrics and chords, Eleanor Rigby gives off this dreary feel to it. The feeling of being alone and looking at others being alone. Acting as though you are surrounded by loving people, but, yet, there is a place where you belong, and that place ain't earth. So you feel... well... alone... | |
| The Shins – Sleeping Lessons Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| All I can say is that this song may have several meaning or a meaning totally different from what I came up with. But after hearing this song only twice, I concocted that the song was about being yourself. The rejection and how it is hard to fit in and you shouldn't be obligated to have people choose the person you are or want to be and if they do try, ignore them completely (or some other more harsh and violent actions is what I came up with, but I rather just leave it at ignoring). The line that made me think this was the "off with their heads line". | |
| TV on the Radio – Staring At The Sun Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Personally, I think the song is about both about sex and death. Whether or not TV on the Radio intended that, that is what I think. *sex on the beach!?!?!??!? idk.* i kind of agree with sprucebranch, though i dont think the story is that thorough. Oh I got! The song could either way. It can be describing sex to death. Or death to sex. I think it is more comparing death to sex. I mean when you just get in the mood and then it happens. The tremendous pain at first but you just cant help it. (Pain and ectasy). Now about the first part.... um....... (Cross the street from your, store front cemetery, hear me hailing from inside.....) I personally think it is comparing the cemetery to maybe a bedroom or other place for erm.... love making if u will... Another theory for that line maybe one of the lovers is already dead or something and that death maybe compared to death and dying. |
