Naive (The Kooks cover) Lyrics

I'm not saying it was your fault
Although you could have done more

Oh you're so naive yet so

How could this be done
Your such a smiling sweetheart
Oh and your sweet and pretty face
In such an ugly way
Something so beautiful
That everytime I look inside

I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false it may be
She's still out to get me

I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false it may be
She's still out to get me

I may say it was your fault
Cause I know you could have done more

Oh you're so naive yet so

How could this be done
By such a smiling sweetheart
Oh and your sweet and pretty face
In such an ugly way something so beautiful
Everytime I look inside

I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false it may be
She's still out to get me

I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false it may be
She's still out to get me

How could this be done
By such a smiling sweetheart

Oh you're so naive yet so

Such an ugly thing
Someone so beautiful
And everytime you're on his side

I know she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false it maybe be she's still out to get me

And I know she knows that I'm not fond of asking
True or false it maybe be she's still out to get me

Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to your kite
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to your kite
Just don't let me down
Just don't let me down
Hold on to this kite
Just don't let me down

Cover art for Naive (The Kooks cover) lyrics by Lily Allen

I know that Lily didn't write it and I think her version speaks for those who are best friends.

She and her best friend had a fight and for awhile, she's so pissed at her. Telling that she's ugly but then her anger doesn't last long. "Lily" is trying really hard to not talk to her best friend but her comes her best friend not making it easy for "lily" to pretend that she's alright without her and all that stuff.

Whatever they fought about it doesn't matter if it's true or not because her best friend knows her too well that she doesn't need to ask, she just knows.

OR

"lily's best friend" have a boyfriend that she doesn't like and Lily is pretty much annoyed by this guy. Saying how could this beautiful end up with that ugly thing...insulting the guy. Maybe Lily feels a bit jealous because her best friend spends more time with her boyfriend, feeling that her friend is drifting away. So, Lily is probably hoping that everything will go back to the way it was, hoping that her best friend won't let her down.

I heard this song whilst in the fitting rooms of a shop and fell in love with it. So much so, that I went onto youtube, searched for the song there and listened away! So theres the answer to your question elephant seventh! Its a much better version than the Kooks' one, Lily's voice is great on this track:-)

...What's this song mean, though?

I love Lily's version of this song! This was wrote by a guy and personally I've always thought it's about a guy who suspects his girlfriend is cheating on him with another bloke and she's too naive to realise how much she's hurting him. I also think that he suspects but is too afraid to ask her if she is cheating on him in case the answer is yes and then his image of this beautiful person would be ruined. "I know that she knows that I'm not fond of asking...True or False it may be" Great song!

i love cover songs, they always sound so different & they make me think of the song differently. this one's greeeat though, her voice is so twinkly. well, that's probably not the best word to use, but whatever. lol

mm, as lily's singing it, i reckon it could be from a woman's point of view. maybe about a boyfriend going with another girl. perhaps even a friend of hers? maybe even an enemy or someone that's always been "out to get" her? idk.
