the title comes from a passage of the Bible Matthew 18:6 when Jesus "If anyone causes these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a large millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned at the bottom of the sea." (which explains the chorus) He didnt literally mean children, obviously, but anyone. and Jesse kinda gives examples of himself that is not much of a great example. and obviously he's not all that happy about it.
but i dont know why the car crash stanza is thrown in...help? |

i think its about Jesse and his dad's relationship. for the titled of the song was a name his dad gave him when he played basketball. Jesse would put his left hand in front of the ball or something when he shot and it caused him to somewhat block his own shot.
and the lyrics are self-explainatory to my opinion.
i'll say 2 lines that are a big give away that its about his dad:
"If it makes you less sad, I'll take your pictures all down." he has pictures of his father around the house. who doesnt? (if theyre dad is a part of their life).
"You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins." you and your family have the same blood.
am i getting to anyone or do i need to explain a little more? |

Jesse said he got it from a time when he and one of his friends went to a show of a band they liked, and that band had a song called "Crack The Sky" and there was this guy near them yelling "Play 'Crack The Sky'" and he apparently had a weird voice so Jesse and his friend imitated him and they guy then looked down all bummed and embarassed.

i think "jeffgunzmu" nailed it.
i thought of one thing that could somewhat support "jeffgunzmu". you see in some movies (cant think of any specific ones) a scene that when the main character (or any character) loses his wife or girlfriend, he imagines them two dancing. those "can/will you dance for me?" lines reminded me of that in movies. so...yeah that kinda goes with jeff's explaination of the loved-passed away one. |

oh my GOSH, this song just strikes me but in some different way. those first 2 stanzas i can relate to SO well and that 3rd stanza means to ME, maybe not J, but i'm in love with this girl i havent met, we just randomly met online and miraculously we fell in love and we're a PERFECT match but we have this issue that we live...a few states apart. and i'm a suicidal and depressed person and she's the only one that can help me and does help me with that. and its hard on me that she's not here.

when i first heard it (while ago) i thought he was saying "just another misfit" then about 4mo ago i noticed that he's saying "i can never miss it" and now i'm definately 99% sure thats what he's saying cause thats what it says here and i believe what arter said on page 1 somewhere. and about the 1%,azlyrics.com says "I can never love you [x2] i can never love, i can never reach you [x8]" but sometimes that site is messed up so i dont believe it. and about the intrepretation(?),i think littel leidy (somewhere pg 1 or 2 i forget) has nailed it or at least got close to it.
so how do i listen to this backwards? i wanna hear this "This never ends" myself. |
