Lemon Pipers – Green Tambourine Lyrics

This was one of the first (and best) songs of the "psychedelic pop" era of the sixties.
Also give "Jelly Jungle" by Lemon Pipers a listen : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF5ljizS0zc |

Wow! I'm so glad someone added these lyrics! One of my top5 favorite songs of all time, the intro is a classic. Bob Gaudio was a songwriting genius, no doubt about it. |

Tommy James And The Shondells – Mony Mony Lyrics

I'm glad others have discovered the REAL version of this song!
FYI "MONY" stands for "Mutual of New York." When TJ was in New York and saw that building, that's where he got the inspiration for this fun song. True story. |

The Righteous Brothers – You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' Lyrics

Nothing beats the Phil Spector Wall of Sound! Truly an amazing song. This is the most played song on the radio of all time, no lie, and there's a reason for that my friends! I've heard it's also a fan anthem for Nottingham Forest F.C. in England. |

Starland Vocal Band – Afternoon Delight Lyrics

You people are Pathetic!!!! Enough about the movies please, it's sad that people today only get to hear great sixties and seventies songs through movies. Enjoy the song as it is, this folks is real music! And if you really need songs about drugs and in this case, sex, then this one's for you my friend! |

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics
|
I find it amazing that so many of those "metalheads" out there think this song is "the greatest hard rock song ever" and that it's some sort of anthem for hard rock fans everywhere. People, have you actually listened to the song? 7 out of 8 minutes of the song is basically soft rock to be honest with you, and even the conclusion of the song isn't really even metal. Now I'm not all suggesting that that's a bad thing, in fact Zeppelin moving away from their traditional style to produce a gem like this is a great thing indeed, coming from an oldies/ classic rock fan. In fact this is one of my favorite songs of all time. But seriously, this song isn't even close to heavy metal-- it's about two things: the guitar, and the songwriting genius. |

Flawless Error- The song is called "Girl", but I'm warning you DONT visit the page for that song on this site... you'll never think of it in the same way again. |

The Beach Boys – Kokomo Lyrics

For some reason I just can't stand this song. Certainly the worst Beach Boys song there is, their older songs were much better. |

Genesis – Follow You Follow Me Lyrics
|
The song could have a religious meaning as well, since the band's name is Genesis and Jesus said Follow me...
Not likely, but just a thought. |

The Beatles – I Am the Walrus Lyrics
|
I have no clue what it means, but isn't it reasonable to assume, since John sings both " I am the eggman" and "I am the Walrus," that John is both the eggman and the Walrus?
And the way to explain John singing "The walrus was Paul" in Glass Onion-He was just trying to throw us off, get us confused, stir up some controversy. |

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics
|
semper eadem-it's unlikely that the song is completely "about" materialism. The first few lines are, but I don't hear any more references in the rest of the song.
Same goes with the drug theory. There's only three or four lines in the entire song that even come close to referencing drugs. Not enough evidence to say it is "about" drugs.
But...nearly EVERY line in the song can be connected to spirituality.
You most certainly can have your own opinions, but to me the obvious meaning is that it's about God. Certainly makes sense that the "greatest song of all time" would be about spirituality.
And yes, there are many songs about religion (and many about sex as well). |

The Beatles – Here Comes the Sun Lyrics

Here Comes The Son (of God)
Everything's all right.
Ok, I know that's not the real meaning of it, but it's an interesting way to interpret it...any comments? |

The Hollies – Bus Stop Lyrics

I assume it's because the meaning is obvious that there aren't more comments here, because this really is one of the best songs ever written. Simple but yet inspiring and beautiful. |

Led Zeppelin – Trampled Under Foot Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
It's almost like a hard rock version of "Long Train Running." Lyrics are different, but beats/rhythm are almost exactly the same. I love Led Zeppelin, but you have to be honest, a lot of their music contains bass lines, guitar riffs, etc from other songs. |

The Beatles – I'm So Tired Lyrics

The paul is dead thing is a hoax, there is no doubt in my mind that Paul is still alive. Just imagine if you were in a recording studio, i'm sure you'd have a lot of fun putting backwards messages into your songs for people to discover. |

The Beatles – Octopus's Garden Lyrics
|
It kind of has a double meaning, as a kid it's just a children's song, but when you grow up you see the sex connections... it all depends on how you interpret the lyrics and what they mean to you.
And by the way, the Wiggles song "Henry the Octopus" doesn't sound like this at all. They may have gotten the octopus idea from here, but you can't accuse them of being a "rip-off" of the Beatles. |

Dusty Springfield – Son Of A Preacher Man Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
It's about somebody's first experience with religion and spirituality. Cleverly disguised as a love song.
Throughout the song, the narrator becomes closer to God and realizes that He is the only answer in her life. Makes perfect sense, since the "boy" is a "son of a preacher man." |

Paul Simon – Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
It's about homosexuality/masturbation.
Why else would the mama pajama be rolling out of BED?
Even though the acid interpretation makes sense with "against the law", it could just be an exaggeration-when his mama finds out he feels as if he has broken the law. |

Paul Simon – Mother and Child Reunion Lyrics
| 16 years ago

Basically, it's about a father whose wife has just died, and he tells his child that he/she will see his/her mother again in heaven. For me, it's that simple.
I like the Beatles breakup theory, though. |

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics

you people are looking WAY too far into these lyrics...just listen to the words, they describe a person who has killed a man and is about to receive the death penalty. NOTHING in this song relates to AIDS or homosexuality. |

Queen – Bicycle Race Lyrics

The meaning's pretty simple, it's self explanatory. He doesn't really care about anything else, just wants to ride his bicycle. Some Queen songs are about being bisexual, but definitely not this one. |

The Beatles – Revolution 9 Lyrics
|
Basically, it's about the history of the Beatles in the eyes of John Lennon. There are references to many of their songs including Cry Baby Cry(the baby crying) and Yellow Submarine(joined the navy and went to sea). Then we hear sounds referencing Paul's "death" and, at the end, a sexual experience with Yoko. Overall, I really enjoy this song and don't think it is scary at all. As drummer4844 said, just have fun trying to decode the meaning. |

The Beatles – Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Lyrics

The message at the end is that you don't need to take drugs to be happy...just take obladi oblada and you'll be fine. It's kind of like a parody of the hidden drug references in their other songs. |
