Blue Öyster Cult – White Flags Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is so obviously about sex, but it is oh so good. Another triumph from the underrated Club Ninja cd.

Blue Öyster Cult – Madness To The Method Lyrics 18 years ago
Listening to it for the bazillionth time right now since I was trying figure out some of the lyrics that I could never figure out.
First off it's "rhyme and reason never argue with a fist"
And it's "the train doesn't wait, when there's no one in the car".
Dunno about "the members only lacking with the stage cologne" doesn't sound quite right, but I never could figure that line out anyway so I'm not gonna argue with it.
Obviously this song is about sex and violence, but it's also freeing yourself from conventional standards. Either way that's my take on it, I love this songs it is one of my favorites off of Club Ninja, a HIGHLY underrated cd.

Blue Öyster Cult – Burnin' For You Lyrics 18 years ago
I think all the explanations are great. I can see the life on the road, and burnin for the girl and all that. But we can't forget the line "...I'm living for given the devil his due..." That line itself takes the song in an entirely different direction. The possible satanic reference changes "I'm burning for you" into someone so in love they are in hell or going to hell because they loved someone so much. Just a theory to throw out there.

Blue Öyster Cult – Godzilla Lyrics 18 years ago
To be honest this probably the worst BOC song there is. It is catchy, I'll give it that. But terribly over played, just like Don't Fear the Reaper and Burnin' For You. I loved this song when I first heard it but now I'm just tired of it.

this is definitely about someone w/regrets but not the narrator.

Blind Melon – Walk Lyrics 18 years ago
This is probably my favorite song off of Soup. Although the drug allegory is obvious, it is also symbolic of the day to day struggle of everyday life. Every day I have to "...bang my head against this wall again..." Deeply moving lyrics. The real tragedy is that the untimely death of Shannon limited Blind Melons full potential.

The Doors – Five to One Lyrics 18 years ago
I always thought "trade in your hours for a handful of dimes" was a reference to any working job. I mean that's what we do, trade in our hours...

Fury in the Slaughterhouse – Radio Orchid Lyrics 18 years ago
don't know if anybody still looks at this post, but Fury in the Slaughter House was one of my faves. Does anybody know where I could find their first cd, since mine has gone tragically MIA?

Tool – 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2) Lyrics 18 years ago
Okay, my eyes are tired. I read every single post, simply because I love the song. For you ppl bashing on TREXOR, he/she hasn't posted for a long time so please quit bitching about their posts.

As for the song, I loved it. I have to admit I'm not a die hard Tool fan, I didn't really care for Undertow and as for Opiate, I haven't heard it. I really got into Tool with Aenima and since then I've been hooked. I was once told that "Judith" was some crippled homeless person that told Maynard "God bless you", so I didn't know that it was his mother, which sheds an entirely new light on 10,000 Days. I see it now as a tribute to his mother and the suffering she indured. I have never been a fan of organized religion, but if someone that I loved, that was that devout, I too, would be demanding of God for that person's entrance into paradise.

All of Tool's cds are different, which is what I like about the band. As a poet, I know how hard it is to strive to be different in what you write. You cant rehash the same things over and over. No body would buy it. Props to Tool for trying to keep their music different and not the crappy 2-3 minute sound bites that everybody seems to think is good music. Let's not forget that Stairway to Heaven is longer than that and still on the top 100. Anyway, enough of this rant.

Blue Öyster Cult – Astronomy Lyrics 18 years ago
I have to admit that, although, I do like Metallica, they don't do the song justice. The best version of this song has to be off of the live Some Enchanted Evening. As to the meaning, heh, I just read the story in the liner notes of Imaginos. I would like to know where I could find "The Soft Doctrine of Imagios". Being a big fan, I always wondered if they had planned Imaginos from the beginning or if it was just some wild creature, that took a life of it's own. It's sad to say that Imaginos was BOC last great release. I have Heaven Forbid and Curse of the Hidden Mirror and they really don't compare to earlier Cult classics.

Blue Öyster Cult – Don't Fear The Reaper Lyrics 18 years ago
Okay, when I first heard this song, I was a little kid, and to be honest, it scared the hell out of me. It wasn't until later in life, when I heard it on the radio again that I recorded it and loved it. Without knowing who the band was. I also recorded Burnin For You, still w/o knowing who it was. I just knew that I loved the songs. Then I read The Stand and learned just who Blue Oyster Cult was. The next thing I did was go out and buy Agents of Fortune. As to if this song is about the Jonestown massacre, well I'm sorry but I think that's a bunch of crap. I don't think it's about suicide, I used to, but if Buck Dharma says it isn't then I'll agree with that. What I find that is truly sad is that there are 142 posts about this song, which although is a great song, is not one of Blue Oyster Cult's best. DFTR doesn't hold a candle to Veteran of the Psychic Wars or the ENTIRE Imaginos cd. Expand your horizons people, BOC is one of the quintessential bands of the 70's. Don't limit yourselves to the paltry few radio songs that are out there.
