Nirvana – You Know You're Right Lyrics 16 years ago
I feel dumb replying to this post as it's nearly 8 years old, however I feel obliged. Personally, I don't have an opinion on the matter as I don't believe any of us will ever really know what truely happened with Kurt.

Now On to my POINT!!! Scandor, You stated "Kurt supposedly shot up before he "committed suicide." The amoung of heroin that was found in his system was so great, that he would have died almost instantly he couldn't have shot himself!"

What you are not and nobody else is taking into account is his tolerance. There is no way to quantify someones tolerance to the drug once they are dead. Kurt was a daily heroin user (As I am myself, this knoweledge is from personal experience and I can back it up with sources via pubmed and other medical journals if anyone requests)

When you do a drug, your body begins to tolerate it. You have to use larger doses to get the same effect. Being a daily heroin user myself, I can shoot myself up with an amount that would drop you dead instantly, and it won't even phase me, it will just make me feel normal, not even high. I can probably shoot myself up with 10x the amount (The L.D. 50, The lethal dose for 50% of intolerant people) that it would take to kill you.

i wish this comment could go on the first page. im like 99% sure this song is about overcoming heroin addiction. look at the first cd, a good deal of it was about drug addiction, namely internal primates forever (heroin addiction, i believe someone in the band is a heroin addict) this is a few years later, its about overcoming said addiction.

--i beat the demons that dragged me down.
the demons that dragged me down ive always heard as referring to drug/alcohol addiction

"Come play kill
(Refuse my to fall, today refuse my shadow)
Stone cold will
(Refuse to need this, refuse to follow)
Bitter pills
(Refuse to be this, refuse to swallow, I feel godless)"

stone cold will, refuse to need this ---sounds like hes saying he has the will power now to say no when he starts fiending, he refuses to NEED heroin or whatever h was shooting up (see internal primates forever: sharpen up the razors stab the needles into pipes to kill cravings so sick of this in me cant stand the want the need cant get free)

Bitter pills
(Refuse to be this, refuse to swallow, I feel godless)
he refuses to be a heroin addiction, he will not swallow no more pills (sounds more like hes referring to oxy then heroin, maybe he shot oxy and not dope) he feels godless. if he is an atheist, this would make sense. look at alice in chains god smack. "so your sickness weighs a ton, and gods name is smack for some" ive been there and thats how it goes

honestly the goodbye sunshine part, in my head i can relate that to heroin addiction because im just now overcoming it [30 days clean] but when i try to type it out, i cant, so i dont know if theres any real connection there. this is just my two cents. when i listen to the song [and have trouble understanding some verses] all i can think is this is definitely about overcoming heroin addiction, just look at internal primates forever, pharmacopeia and i think theres another song but i cant remember right now.

i wish this was on the first page so i could get some feedback, negative or positive. if anyone gets to the third (maybe even 4th when i post this) page, please leave me some feedback. i came to this site hoping for someone to confirm/deny my theory, but theres very few people even talking about the meaning of this song.

Alice in Chains – Real Thing Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't think this song neccessarly is about cocaine. I mean, it very easily could be, but heroin is pretty much always white, if it's decent. Ever hear the expression, China White? I don't know what region he was from, but if he got his dope in the northeast united states, i'd bet it was probably white. There is some brown dope out there, but I've seen it maybe once or twice and I've been using for a while.
