Jefferson Airplane – Wooden Ships Lyrics 18 years ago
It is coat - it refers to a meeting between 2 soldiers (who, obviously, are distinguished by the colour of their coats).

I prefer the Airpane version to the CSN version, but I think both are great.

Jefferson Airplane – Triad Lyrics 18 years ago
This was written by Crosby, wasn't it?

Haven't heard the Airplane version, anyone know where I can get hold of it?

Jefferson Airplane – Comin' Back to Me Lyrics 18 years ago
Amazing song. I can't believe Airplane only have 4 or 5 songs with comments on them..

Matisyahu – Chop 'Em Down Lyrics 18 years ago
"From the forest itself comes the handle for the axe"

That's profound man..
(I'm not being sarcastic, i really think that's a great lyric)

Rhett Miller – Your Nervous Heart Lyrics 18 years ago
Just got this song, quite like it.

Sean Kingston – Me Love Lyrics 18 years ago
Exactly Caddi..

speaking of rip offs, the Blues called, it wants its music back from Zeppelin.
Christ, loads of Led songs are 'rip-offs' (also known as covers, versions or 'songs inspired by...), frequently uncredited.

I'm not saying I don't like Led, cos I do.
But to complain THEIR songs are being ripped off is kinda ignorant imo.

Anyway, as for this song:
not sure about it. But then I didn't really like D'yer M'aker either (except the title and its history, which is inspired)..

Prince – Erotic City Lyrics 18 years ago
Great song, one of my favorites from Prince.

Joe Walsh – Walk Away Lyrics 18 years ago
No comments yet?

Here goes:

Dude digs a chick, she isn't interested in even discussing the possibility..
Or possibly they've had a fight ("things...don't taste the same without you") and she isn't interested in getting back with him.

Joe Walsh – Ordinary Average Guy Lyrics 18 years ago
Great song. Bit of a reggae-ish influence too, like on Life's Been Good.

"And every Saturday we work in the yard
Pick up the dog do
Hope that it's hard (whaf whaf) "

lol, great stuff

Joe Walsh – A Life Of Illusion Lyrics 18 years ago
Y'know, I've known who Joe Walsh is since i was about 6, but I've never really listened to his solo stuff (apart from Rocky Mountain Way and Turn To Stone) - now there's all these great songs that I suddenly realise are his..

Not that it has anything to do with this song, but noone pulls off yellow/black polka-dot pants like Joe :D

The Doors – Love Me Two Times Lyrics 18 years ago
mojo risen - probably anal rather than oral, Jim was a pretty big fan of the back door..

Big fan of the Doors, saw the Riders on the Storm beginning of this year in Amsterdam (Mazarek, Krieger, Ian Astbury, n two random dudes who were also pretty good) - ace concert.

Bright Eyes – Motion Sickness Lyrics 18 years ago
Love this song, was the first Bright Eyes song I ever heard, and for a long time the only one I bothered listening to.
Much more recently I've got hold of a bunch more songs, n I think they're pretty damn good.

Citizen Cope – Fame Lyrics 18 years ago
"Got the buffalo soldier
The dreadlock Rastaman"

Tribute to Bob, perhaps?

"Talked to a man who caught the
raninbow's end he found
That the pot of gold resided within"

The true treasures in life come from within yourself, not material things?

Jesus christ this is good!

Jeff Buckley – Lover, You Should've Come Over Lyrics 18 years ago
This, Mojo Pin and Hallelujah are definitely in my top 10 songs ever.

The emotion in his voice is astounding, and Christ does he know how to write tragic love songs

King Crimson – Walking on Air Lyrics 18 years ago
I've gotta say, outside of the first album I've yet to find much I like by King Crimson..
but this is just great.

King Crimson – The Court of the Crimson King Lyrics 18 years ago
This is an amazing song.

I'm listening to the vynyll as I type this.

The whole album is just top-notch all the way through, and I find it rare that I rate all songs 5/5.

"I run to grasp divining signs
To satisfy the hoax."

Genius

Such powerful imagery..

John Martyn – Bless The Weather Lyrics 18 years ago
There's an amazing version of this on youtube (ditto for Small Hours, Couldn't Love You More, I'd Rather Be The Devil and others)

Anyone else notice he seems to sing Cruse the man who takes you away, when he does it live?
Or is that just the versions I've seen..

Lovely song.

Katie Melua – Nine Million Bicycles Lyrics 18 years ago
Seen this live, this woman is unbelievably cute.

John Martyn – Just Now Lyrics 18 years ago
's about looking back at life, and growing as a person.
And possibly coming out of a depression (it fits, anyway)

submissions
John Martyn – Walk On The Water Lyrics 18 years ago
Man, there's not many John Martyn songs on here.. May have to look into adding some.

But anyway - great song, from a brilliant album.

Damian Marley – Pimpa's Paradise Lyrics 18 years ago
"and stoned at the buildin refused"

Shouldn't that be "the stone that the builder refused"?
That's what it sounds like.. and Bob sung that quite a bit too ("..shall be the headcorner stone")

Though being stoned and refused entry at a club fits too..

Great song though.

Nick Drake – Suicide Is Painless Lyrics 18 years ago
Great song, even if it isn't by Nick Drake (though I wouldn't have known had I not looked it up, I'm not a great Drake expert, only just getting into his stuff..)

Love singing the chorus at random times

Nick Drake – Place To Be Lyrics 18 years ago
Nick Drake is one of those people who's voices make me feel a sad combination of drunk, stoned and contemplative... which I like to refer to as Maudlin.
And this song is a perfect example, it just makes me feel like I'm sitting in a forest in the middle of nowhere, enjoying the sublime beauty of the world, not having to worry about life.

And that last verse is so sad (in a good way)

Paul Simon – 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover Lyrics 18 years ago
I've gotta say, I love the verses, but I can't stand the chorus. Dunno why.

But a great song nontheless.
