and the real song's meaning lies in the title. Basically what it means is that yesterday was 1999 and tomorrow its 2000. like the whole new era. as for the "buying nike lead shoes" i think its just something to fill the gaps with so it doesnt sound so focused on the real meaning. |

hey, guys watch the backwards version of this on youtube. it is clear that the second verse makes up a message. and as for the get the cool shoeshine, in reverse it sounds "my shoes shook with me". ^^ |

does anyone else think that the music sounds like a heavy fastbeat version of gorillaz' clint eastwood (or possibly kids with guns)? |

the most accurate translation would be 'i'm in need of a die' or 'i'm in need of a DIY' (which would make sense since he is blue and needs DIY to change his colour:)) |

the first song that really started it all, great memories. btw all of you who are arguing what this song is about, listen to the chorus backwards it has subliminal message that mentions god and prair. |

its not quite instrumental since you can hear damon's (or graham's) voices singing along. maybe its a different language? |

this song is depressing, frightening, emotional and beautiful at the same time. very good song, although i tend to skip it most of the time. |

m1 and a1 represent road names in UK that Gorillaz are (possibly) driving on in their jeep. |

This song is by a band called Circus which were formed before Blur and had Damon Albarn on vocals. Great song though, I love it! |

I think this song should be classified as Gorillaz because of its similarity. |

I love this song. its one of the best from Gorillaz. one question though:
how the hell can everybody hear "you're the hero" in the chorus?! all i hear is "you....ohhh". |
