Okay, it may not be about a woman; just the city. I especially like the "lost my tounge and burned my bible" line. As if arriving in New Orleans, he was speechless and had lost faith in a god who would allow the kind of travesty that was Katrina.
Fuck jesus! |

Fucking great song. I think the meaning is pretty clear. Standard tribute to some woman using the troubled New Orleans as the metaphor. Sometimes shit happens to great people (cities) and sometimes we get caught up in it, or don't get the girl. It's hopeful though, She's gotta walk a stoic grace... good luck NO except that the engineer in me says we really shouldn't rebuild it.
I hope this song gets some exposure. |

i see it as the woman tempting the singer even though he is with or married to someone else. "if you turn me on, i'm not going to be able to resist and i'm going to pounce you." he won't tell his wife about it, and cheating is kind of a bad thing, hence "what you don't confess" and "sometimes i think it's a shame when i get feelin' better, when i'm feelin' no pain." as i guy i've been in this situation at least a few times and to me the meaning is pretty clear. not to say anyone else is wrong, it's just how i see it. |

larkin's got it. the singer is still in love with his woman after all these years. and the moon's rising on their lives (they're going to be dead soon) so enjoy it while you can.
maybe he calls her closer because she can't hear as well now. |

the homeless guy and the blind man are victims of the society. they however 'had the answer' but no one knew about it or cared. the castles burning part is our great society falling apart because we can't or don't help out those who may need asistance. while this may seem irrelevent to our great casltes (buildings, economy etc.) eventually this will be the end of us. |

I'm not a bible person but were judas and hey zeus making out? (take that evangelicals) but seriously the singer is a bit frustrated with a woman whom he maybe wanted a relationship with but she was too ditsy to make up her mind about it and act on it. "did you wan't something from me or not". great song, especially if you've been in that position. |

a minor place is the state of depression. not necessarily bad however as how can one know happiness if he doesn't know sadness. this is what makes life so great. i think this is a theme of the whole album. life is sometimes crap so enjoy the good stuff. |

| Bonnie 'Prince' Billy – Wolf Among Wolves Lyrics

This song is about sex. See, the singer is a wolf when it comes to sex, powerful, savage and always seemingly hungry. His partner kisses and hugs him affectionately which he doesn't mind, but it's not really him. She wants security and he wants satisfaction. This happened to me, a woman whom I was very much in love with was extremely timid and we didn't jive sexually. |
