i think this song could have some sort of connection to the war in Iraq. It could be about a soldier in the hospital from his war wounds. Theres another soldier in the bed across him. "tell me the story of how you ended up here" They are not only suffering from their superficial wounds, but also psychological. (Put out the fire on us) Also, the fact that they reference Vietnam, and Italy(WWII) could also convey this meaning. This is obviously not the first war, and they are not the first ones hurt by it. But this is just a theory.... |

slightly stoopid is so fuckin underrated. they absolutely kick ass... this is definately one of their best... its just mellow and flows perfectly throughout the entire song. What's the meaning? i think tb24 is right, its about someone moving on. They're moving closer to the sun(maybe closer to their death, heaven) He thinks she's beautiful, but he doesn't have enough to get the girl. so he moves on to the next town-"If I was to stay it wasn't for too long People sing the same song everywhere I'm going" I think the fact that they repeat the entire first stanza over again says a lot about the meaning. It's a cycle that just begins, ends, and starts over again until he eventually REACHES the sun. |

fuck this is a great song. anyone know what the girl is saying in the beginning? well its just about the monotony of life. life sucks and is just plain "ordinary" not everyone gets to live like a rockstar. Alcoholism is the only way that the writer gets to feel like he's somebody. "posessions never make good friends"-self explanatory, no matter how much shit you have, your still lonely. Best stoopid song by far, only rivaled by 'closer to the sun' it's simple, but has an acoustic flow that could chill anyone out. It's kind of a mixture of philosophy, and the writer just wanting to smoke some sensimilla (sensi herb-the dankest of weed) I'm guessing it's about a weed dealer (collie man), who wastes his life and people only call him for his herb (which better be damn good). but thats just my theory... after all it "doesn't really matter as long as the music goes on" |
