| I have to assume this is like many of tools songs about matters metaphysical and alchemical. Specifically, being touched by kundalini. | |
| Delerium – Duende Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Pure metaphor, or anything more concrete? Most obvious things that came to my mind were obsessively wishing for a lost lover to come back, or about drug addiction. Delerium has some straight metaphysical symbolism in a number of their songs though so who knows.. | |

| If I had to take a guess, I'd say this is a metaphor for the water of life that washes away sin. Christian, Hindu, whatever religion you please. Hopefuly someday we'll understand the molecular mirror to this metaphysical process. From my research and own experiences, and as the writer seems to agree, though you can allow it to flow around and through you, its not something you can hold on to, and those who seek it for such purposes will never find it. Instantly felt deja vu when listening to this song.... | |
| Star One – Inseperable Enemies Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I havent seen the film in a long time, but from a hazy recollection, I am thinking this is about the movie Enemy Mine where two fighter pilots from warring species crash on an alien world and are forced to work together to survive. Thoughts? | |
| Star One – Set Your Controls Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Im with Outsider for the most part, though just remember it doesn't take psychedelics to blast your consciousness into lightspeed.....but they sure as hell help ;) So I'll also agree with Salazar that this might be about some obscure sci-fi movie or book, or just about the thread of most sci-fi in general (the Utopian not the Dystopian kind; evolution of man and all that--a good prequal for Starchild later in the album. Truely fucking awesome song, if you want a piece of music to motivate you to accomplish impossible feats, this is it for you. Awe inspiring and hope filling. I'm sad to see so few ccomments about this incredible album on SongMeanings :( Not enough people are aware of this shit | |
| Star One – Starchild Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Hard to figure this one out. Have to watch my sci-fi collection again (that could take awhile)....but I can't think of any movie this links up too. The main theme seems to be about alien technology activating near earth, a man receives that message and realizes he is the one who through an awakened consciousness he will lead humanity to a new dawn. Thoughts? | |
| Star One – The Eye of Ra Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Obviously about the movie Star Gate. simple as that. | |
| Star One – Songs of the Ocean Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Damnit why is nobody commenting on Star One's stuff? I've been listening to Space Metal non-stop, and have been trying to dissect the songs. Obviously most of them are based on Sci-Fi movies/books.......though it doesn't quite fit, the traveling time and bit about speaking to the oceans makes me think this might be about that Star Trek film where the alien ship comes to talk to the now extinct humpback whale. Thoughts? | |

part 4 (not counting prelude and transcendence which are wordless) of new mythology suite. This song is pretty self-explanatory. Montu Sehkmet leads a full on invasion of Atlantis, his army destroying all in its path. The Atlanteans are forced to use their doomsday weapons, which completely obliterate both sides, and Atlantis sinks beneath the seas. "...the perservation of Balance was utmost importance, and cast into the sea was the child Ma'at, to find a new land...riding on the breath of Poseidon..." Only the child Ma'at escapes the destruction, and she journeys to the ancient Egypt with the hope of teaching the world her sacred knowledge. |

part 3 of new mythology suite (not counting the wordless 'transcendence' that comes before--which perhaps refers to the spiritual essence of balance coming into human form. This song deals with the arrival of the prophetic child Ma'at. She appears to be of a much 'higher' nature than the Atlanteans, if not Ptah Khnemu as well. She speeks of the Atlanteans ignorance from a 'heavenly perspective' (from the skies, looking down on you...); she wishes to re-establish balance by the "power of five", a concept introduced in Evolution. The magic of five is connected to the 5 human senses, and five unknown nations(?). Instead of seeking to obliterate darkness, she seems to recognize it as a necessary part of existence, and part of a cycle she sees as destined to begin anew (rise and fall of knowledge and civilizations?). This is where the difference arises between the necessary balance between ying-yang and the desire to let one dominate the other (which perhaps was what gave birth to the rise of Montu Sehkmet in the first place). "..unfortunately, not all were interested in the Ways of Justice, and those of the Night gathered to plot the elimination of the great Law of One and the death of Ma'at. The Atlantens harnessed the energy of the great Crystals to create a weapon of immense power, unaware that the power they possessed would ultimately lead to thier downfall..." The ending quote shows that Montu has no interest in peace, and goes to full blown war with the Atlanteans, who are forced to use their doomsday weapons. |

part 2 of new mythology suite This song introduces the embodied essence of destruction and chaos, Montu Sekhmet. He is the 'leader' among the 'demons' created by the power-drunk Atlanteans. He longs for the might and magic of the Atlanteans--the metaphysical Power of Five (in my personal opinion, some reference to chakras, sephirot, or a similar concept). He also feels deep hatred for the Atlanteans for casting him out for his taint (unclear whether he feels comradery for his fellow 'demons', or if he simply rallies them as a means to his desired end). He recognizes himself as the metaphysical counterpart to the balance desired by Ptah Khnemu and perhaps the Atlanteans culture in general (IDs himself as Ptah's counterpart and his army as that of the Atlanteans?). This seems more along the Hindu/buddhist lines of duality theory / ying-yang; however since the two leaders and their people are the personification of these concepts that adds the christian good-evil twist (vengeance and fury...). Perhaps the human-side of Montu is why he shows obvious guilt and remorse for the storm he has summoned--despite his deep sense of justification. "...and there was a need for balance, the coming of Ma'at.." The quote for this song brings in the next; a christ-like child comes in the world who's purpose seems to be keep the world from falling into total oblivion. |

part 1 (not counting the intro) of new mythology suite. "...and to create entirely new beings was an even greater display of thier power, but in attempting to merge thier energies, some of the newly made beings were disfigured...and there were altered creatures with wings, hooved legs and tails - part human, part beast. And they became divided..." This song introduces the band's telling of the legend of the lost empire of Atlantis. It tells of a god-like being--to become the high priest of Atlantis--Ptah Khnemu--who brings the Atlanteans (unclear if they are of the same demi-god nature) into a golden age of magic and technology. It implies Ptah Khnemu also birthed religion, one seemingly focused on universal truth (like the mystery cults of egypt and all over the ancient world), power and fair law for all. The quote at the top (not spoken lyrics) is literal enough; the godlike beings began using their powers for magical-genetic-engineering, though some of their experiments didn't work as planned. |

the music video for this song can dispel any confusion about its meaning. it is about breaking the chains of dellusion, awakening kundalini (shakti) which rises up to the top of the head, activating the chakras as it goes, to merge with shiva, causing the thousand petaled lotus to bloom. at the end the man has completely faded out into the infinity of the one. highly recommended song for DMT smoking. |

an extremely metaphysical song, about becoming a spiritual person--brushing the divine, and being one with all things. the spiral is a metaphor for the centripetal/centrifugal space/time principal; everything moves forward in a line while repeating in circles (= a spiral). I embrace my Desire to Feel the rhythm, to Feel connected Enough to step aside and Weep like a widow, to Feel inspired, to Fathom the power, to Witness the beauty, to Bathe in the fountain, to Swing on the spiral, to Swing on the spiral he wants to be tuned into the rhythme of the flow (tao, whatever you want to call it), feel connected to the world within/around him. the fountain, the wellspring of life is found in practically every faith. at the end, as he swears on his newfound resolve, he hopes that eventually he'll reach the end of the infinite spiral, and understand the great mystery. beautiful and inspiring song, regardless of your faith. ekam sat viprah bahuda vadanti --there is one truth, though sages call it by different names |
