Songs of the Ocean Lyrics
As we return to earth, memories are haunting me
My strange rebirth, coming back to life
I remember the dark and how my friends set me free
I sacrificed my life so they could survive
There's something wrong on planet Earth
We can not reach our world
Some strange device slowly emerged
Can you hear the cries?
There's something wrong, what can we do?
We can't communicate
All systems fail, all power too
We can't reply
It must be unaware of the damage it's creating
They are reaching out to the seven seas
It's not with man they're communicating
We're going back in time, back in history
There's something wrong, what can we do?
We can't communicate
All systems fail, all power too
We can't reply
We shape life, we travel space
But we don't know the words to the songs of the ocean
We survived the 'human race'
But we don't know the words to the songs of the ocean
There's something wrong on planet Earth
We can't reply
We shape life, we travel space
But we don't know the words to the songs of the ocean
We survived the 'human race'

Damnit why is nobody commenting on Star One's stuff? I've been listening to Space Metal non-stop, and have been trying to dissect the songs. Obviously most of them are based on Sci-Fi movies/books.......though it doesn't quite fit, the traveling time and bit about speaking to the oceans makes me think this might be about that Star Trek film where the alien ship comes to talk to the now extinct humpback whale. Thoughts?
I think it's talking about how their ship went back in time when they first went faster than light travel. They sit outside the older planet earth where there haven't even been dinosaurs or mammals of any kind. They can't speak with the creatures in the ocean. The ocean itself has it's own cultures and who knows what lurking in the unfathomable depths of the oceans. That's just a thought I had about it.

I think it's mostly about the Star Trek film with the whales. But the first verse seems like it's about another Star Trek film - 'Genesis', I think, where Spock sacrifices himself to save the crew and is later brought back to life.
@dhcmrlchtdj Yes, Star Trek IV: The Voyage home (the one with the whales :)) and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which features the Genesis device. It's kind of nerd law that I commit this stuff to memory. :)

This song is about Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
The first verse refers to the events at the end of Star Trek III: The Search For Spock, but these movies are direct sequels in terms of events.
Awesome song and amazing album!
