this songs about regret.

Broken Social Scene – Swimmers Lyrics 16 years ago
this is definitely my favorite bss song. it's incredible how much i can relate to it at this time in my life. i seriously feel like this song was written about a boy i know who i like. he's really lazy and basically expects me to do everything. not to mention he sleeps in till 1 pm most days. i'm just waiting around for him and it's frustrating. i love how silly/girly the song is at some points. it's pretty much about how dumb boys are and how playing games isn't cool...at least that's what i want it to mean.

Animal Collective – Summertime Clothes Lyrics 16 years ago
this song captures summer better than any other song in the world. simple and absolutely brilliant.

Radiohead – True Love Waits Lyrics 16 years ago
this song makes me cry like a baby. "i'm not living i'm just killing time" really gets me. it's so true. when you are seperated from the person you love you feel nothing, time is just something keeping you from seeing that person again. i'm in this situation now and it seems my life revolves around the time i'm with that person, and the time i'll see them again, it just consumes you. true love does wait.

The Strokes – Hard To Explain Lyrics 17 years ago
elementarypenguin, you are thinking way to into this. a lot of you are. you shouldn't try to interpret the lines individually but rather look at the song as a whole and the way it makes you feel. if you watch some of the earlier interviews, they explain the meaning of this song. it's not about romance or his girlfriend from carolina or any of that nonsense. it's about the bittersweet feeling of achieving fame. knowing you've finally "made it" but realizing what you have to leave behind. the singer is questioning his motives for making music and if it's really worth it and at what cost?

Devendra Banhart – Cripple Crow Lyrics 17 years ago
ahahaha this is not about native americans. it's not a history lesson folks. you're not supposed to take the lyrics literally. it's about peace, peace, peace.

Arctic Monkeys – Balaclava Lyrics 17 years ago
alex talked about this when they were in brazil in oct/nov. it's pretty much about casual sex. he likes the non-attachment, rush, feeling. when the girl wants to get to know him, he stays emotionally unattached, keeping on his "balaclava"

Arctic Monkeys – Only Ones Who Know Lyrics 18 years ago
mizuki_chan, i know that was an interpretation but i would have to disagree that it is about someone getting their gf/bf taken away. i think the "heart he was stealing" just means that her heart no longer belongs to herself; now that she's in love with him, it belongs to him. this is a song about two people wound-up in love, a type of love that is hard to find these days. it gives alex that sort of hope, and he wants to believe that it will last.

in the bit where he goes, "i bet you would have made it that bit better on your own" he means that it doesnt matter where he tells them to go, it will be great no matter what because they are in love.

all in all, one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs i've ever heard. makes me cry.

The Velvet Underground – Coney Island Steeplechase Lyrics 18 years ago
that's total bullshit. the strokes admit to being fans, but not big fans. they have completely different styles. i hate when people go off on shit like that just because a bunch of fucking reporters say that the strokes sound like the velvet underground. watch the documentary in transit and you'll see casablancas himself make fun of it

Arctic Monkeys – D Is for Dangerous Lyrics 18 years ago
i'm sorry but if you think this is about andy then you obviouslly do not know the band and their music. alex turner would never write something so cruel and mean about andy because they are still friends. if you want read the nme article where alex says specifically he doesnt bring people he's close to into his songs. and you are wrong bueller84 it's not simulate, it's stimulate check their lyrics on the website.

Arctic Monkeys – Fluorescent Adolescent Lyrics 18 years ago
bakismaki and dueyfinster are right. i believe. it's just about a lady, in her 30's or 40's whos lost her touch and shes growing nostalgic about days where she was younger and crazy and shes trying too hard to go back tot he way she was, including sleeping with younger men, kinda like a mid-life crisis.

Arctic Monkeys – Do Me a Favour Lyrics 18 years ago
shoelia is spot on i think. it just about the guy whos obviously screwed a good relationship up (curiosity. . ) and he feels like an ass because shes done nothing wrong and he's crushed.

Arctic Monkeys – D Is for Dangerous Lyrics 18 years ago
suki, i LOVE donnie darko. best movie ever. but i think this is more about a realtionship between a man and a woman. it seems like the guy is whipped.

although it was well thought out i dont think this is in anyway about andy. the keep your trousers on seems like the guy likes/wants sex. and it's delightful.

The Strokes – Hard To Explain Lyrics 18 years ago
sorry scream on rooftops, but your wrong, unless your just saying the way you see it.

hard to explain is all about the steps to fame, and the music industry. it's about having success and wanting to stay at a certain place in the biz but you realize that you have to meet with your listeners and a larger audiences expectations, while trying not to sell out.

Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics 18 years ago
seriously just admit your wrong. do you see how many people are dissagreeing with you?

"I'd give you the riffs thing but personally I can make a song and then put riffs to it so there blows that one out the window."

hmm. and i bet you your songs sound like absolute shit! your NOT A REAL FUCKING MUSICIAN. so don't say you know shit that you have no clue about. your just as much of a musician as pete wentz, abba, my chemical romance, and all those other shitty, talentless, over paid "muscians" out there.

the music is the MOST important part to a song. it's something that used to be valued until disco fever came and 80's synthezier shit was made. bands that were popular actually desereved the fame, and the money. now a days you get these manufactured bands like fall out boy, my chemical romance, taking back sunday, and panic at the disco that say just because they can pluck quite fucking miserably at a guitar, put some half ass lyrics together, and not be considered rap, they are original.

however, the only original bands out there now a days are underground, underpaid bands that refuse to sell out to the majority's views and expectations on idealy good music.

Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics 19 years ago
bluchickenlvr04, you are an idiot.

i know good original music much more than you do. for one i live in the east village, home of the best music in the world. my brother works for mercury lounge, and started lending me independent records when i was 13. i'm 18 now and i now comerical shit (foB) from original stuff. if you were to go to a real independent label or club and say you like fall out boy, they'd probably laugh at you. and i will agree with some of your other music tastes such as the clash and the beatles but them and bands such as abba (hah), acdc, and kiss are hardly original. fall out boy is pretty much on every other commerical on television now because they apply to the "mtv" audience, in other words, mostly a bunch of 12 year old girls who wear abercrombie.

so don't give me that shit that i don't know music. and how can you say that riffs mean nothing? you only say that because fall out boys produce the worst riffs ever. you go out and ask any band that ever mattered if it's music or lyrics and they would say music. Julian casablancas, lead singer of the strokes (a band a billion times more superior to fall out boy and also may i add that theyre guitarist was quoted saying he'd rather eat shit than listen to fall out boy) said that "we always make the music first, good music, a good beat, is always first. lyrics are important because they win your audience, but as a musician, lyrics are completely secondary."

and anyways, it's not like fall out boys has such amazing lyrics.

and to prove you wrong i wrote down the bands that i like, which are much more original than your abba, kiss, shit will ever be.

fall out boy is the worst band ever, never liked them and i never will.i hate how they try to give of this thing that theyre all original then they make shit like this. they can't even play their instuments! i'm only posting this because my friend made me see them live like 9 months ago and they were beyond horrible, the guy couldnt sing, and the guitarist's guitar was completely out of tune and he kept stopping mid song. it sounded like screeching noise.

it's not about regina (definetly not, they never dated) or juliet. if you pay attention this song was written by jules and fab. fab wrote it about drew barrymore. it's about them dealing with being on the road and her back in hollywood.

They love you or they hate you,
But they won't ever let you be.

Arctic Monkeys – Fake Tales of San Francisco Lyrics 19 years ago
i bought their cd and i really tried to like it but i'm not much of a fan of alex turner's voice. does anyone agree that this song kinda sounds like the kooks? the one second at the end has a kinda reggae beat.

most indie/punk/pop bands now a days are influenced by america. it started with the strokes in 2000 and then all sorts of garage bands came outta new york, then you had bands like franz ferdinand in england. then the hives and the vines. and so on and so forth.
