Drew44, the lead singer (and songwriter, John Wozniak) grew up in several different places, but the band is named after the school he attended in Minnesota, Marcy Optional. The band came together in New York many years later. |

Also! The end of the song is not the real end. The song was cut off during recording and they liked it, so they left it that way. I've been a hard-core, very involved fan of Marcy for years, and in all that time I have never heard the full ending, nor has anyone else I know. |

It's not directly about Kurt Cobain, it's about Seattle and the surrounding areas in the early 90s. The beginnings of "grunge" were more than just Nirvana, and Wozniak was a part of that scene. He actually shared rehersal space with Cobain for a while though. |

It is not directly a D&D reference, but Wozniak does relishes fantasy. His parents were about as far from being overbearing and disapproving as you can get. It's not autobiographical. Rebel Sodville was written because of a dream he had.
