Sufjan Stevens – The Owl and the Tanager Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Totally agree with you, but I don't think they reconcile in the end... I think he will wait his lover to come back until he dies, he doesn't lose hope, even in a blanket of red (pain). |
Sufjan Stevens – Futile Devices Lyrics | 13 years ago |
In my opinion, why would "she" start her point of view with the word "and". It makes me think the whole song has just one narrator. |
Sufjan Stevens – Impossible Soul Lyrics | 13 years ago |
That doesn't even make sense, if it's from the girl's point of view why would she be called "boy, (we can do much more together)" ... it's like "I'm going to switch the point of view each time I want to eliminate the homosexual undertones". Not that you can't do that really. |
Sufjan Stevens – Futile Devices Lyrics | 13 years ago |
People are having such a hard time denying all homoerotic interpretation Sufjan's songs could have. If they're not from the perspective of a woman it's about Jesus. Come on! |
Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! Lyrics | 14 years ago |
What's up with all these "girl narrator" comments? Sorry to burst out your bubble but guys use leg warmers and write in cursive too. This is the only song where I've read people think the narrator is a girl, I guess it's just because the people it kisses it's another guy. You people are in denial, the meaning is kinda so obvious. But it's ok, I guess we are all free to think whatever we want about it. |
Lily Allen – Not Fair Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with EarthTitan. I think it's about a guy who suffers premature ejaculation... "I look into your eyes I want to get to know you And then you make this noise and its apparent it's all over" It's too soon and he already came, I think that's what those lines above are all about. I think it's NOT FAIR even for the guy, it's not his fault, I guess. |
The Cranberries – Woman Without Pride Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is really amazing! I think the meaning is pretty obvious, her man cheated on her but she's pretening nothing ever happened. She'll fake that everything's ok and keep her "perfect" relationship. She calls herself "Woman without pride". This is about codependency! |
Alanis Morissette – Citizen of the Planet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Aaah!! I love the lyrics! |
Sufjan Stevens – The Lord God Bird Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Totally agree with aggiewill07 (: |
Alanis Morissette – Joining You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I thought that the mother of the narrator's friend called her to tell her that her daughter was about to commit suicide. So Alanis phoned her back and tells the chorus; the "if we were..." part; if all of those things were true so Alanis would be joining her, she would commit suicide too :] That's what I thought of the song. It's awesome, btw. |
JoJo – Coming For You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This one is awesome, surprised it hadn't any comments. |
Dolores O'Riordan – Forever Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't know... I've thought a lof of meaning for this song but I stick with one in particular. I think it could be about someone dead who's looking after you in heaven... or just about parents' emotions when their children grow up and leave home. |
Dolores O'Riordan – Ecstasy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Even when I wouldn't want to... I think this song is about... missing a drug... pleasure, pain, die, sweet, temptations, fall, ecstasy, rushing, veins, withdraw, shake, essence... and you made me do this to myself. But well, I also think it could be about missing happiness you had by someone's side, and now you're all messed up because of his/her abssence. |
Dolores O'Riordan – October Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Well, I know a lot of people say it's not... but I've thought a lot of times this could be about The Cranberries itself... breaking up and going for a solo career. I mean, they splitted around October. Plus, all the lyrics fit, somehow. Anyways, this is my favorite song of the album, it's just so so awesome :) |
Émilie Simon – Opium Lyrics | 16 years ago |
THIS ONE IS AWESOME! :D - English Translation - I let go, lets me inhale, the vapors in range... Evaporated, like smoke, in an ashy cloud. My opium, not of serum, my opium (opium) My opium, not of serum, my opium I let go, lets me inhale, the vapors in the petals... Very embuée, I leave in smoke, like a good small guinea-pig. My opium, not of serum, my opium (opium opium) My opium, not of serum, my opium I let go, lets me inhale, my opium (x3) I let go, I let go... I let go (I let go... I let go...) I let go, lets me inhale, the vapors in-depth... Ensommeillée, I let myself guide, I advance as a apesentor. My opium, not of serum, my opium (opium, opium) My opium, not of serum! I let go, I let go... I let go (I let go... I let go...) |
Émilie Simon – Le Veil Amant Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I -think- the title means "The Old Lover" :P |
The Cranberries – Everything I Said Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh, and this is one of my favorite songs by The Cranberries! |
The Cranberries – Everything I Said Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm totally agree with Kaleidoscope. |
Émilie Simon – My Old Friend Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pretty obvious the meaning, and I love the song. |
The Cranberries – Dying Inside Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yup, it's not "you're" but "her" Anyways... I really really love this song, it has such a sad atmosphere, a really subtle feeling, awesome. |
The Cranberries – Daffodil Lament Lyrics | 16 years ago |
If I picture this song... the things I can see; at first, is a woman arguind with a guy... then he hits her and then she's like "This is enough, I leave" and she takes her things and go away while the guy follows her desperately through the streets and rain (thunder and lightning won't change what I'm feeling) and she sees a lot of pretty daffodils while walking to her new place, with a big smile on her face, like she's free now. :) Love it. |
The Cranberries – This Is The Day Lyrics | 16 years ago |
By the way, these lyrics have a lot of mistakes! It's "Faith will save you" not "They will save you" :/ that make it sound like an alien kind of song. Anyways :D I think it's about friendship, about how you can help a person you love get inner strenght and believe in himself/herself (Faith Will Save You) |
The Cranberries – Analyse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Definitely one of my favorite songs! It obviously talks about not worrying too much about anything, don't over-think-it! This song helped me a lot like 6 years ago, I was a depressed child, I thought a lot about death, but this song made me see I only should worry about enjoying the moment and every breath you take! |
The Cranberries – I Will Always Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is such a great song... I think it talks about someone who has always hold on to a person it's not exactly good to her... but even when she knows about that, she doesn't care because she's so much in love. |
The Cranberries – This Is The Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, I think it's about friendship too, any kind of love-bond, always there for the good and bad times :) Oh, and the lyrics here are so wrong :P |
Natalie Imbruglia – Beauty On The Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hmmm, wait, I know this may sound dirty but I think it talks about something sexual. She thinks she's ruining the pretty things of love (throwing the beauty on the fire) by being more intimate with her lover for the first time, she's scared everything beautiful will be lost after that. But she doesn't care, because she thinks fire is beautiful too. Think about it... "Here it comes again Cannot out run my desire Cover my decent And throw the beauty on the fire Tonight, Could I be lost forever? To drown, my soul in sensory pleasure, Sensory pleasure Sensory pleasure Sensory pleasure" |
