Red Hot Chili Peppers – Goodbye Angels Lyrics 3 years ago
@[60_miles_an_hour:15136] I think it's probably mostly about her, but I think the fact that it's plural "angels", and there's mention of some other very specific things makes it more about lots of girls he's known than have disappeared from Anthony's life in one way or another. This song can make me extremely sad. I love it!

Audioslave – Like a Stone Lyrics 3 years ago
Chris Cornell is amazing, and Audioslave was magic, maybe to never be repeated. The basic music is so simple and Chris's vocal line melody is geniously perfect, with unconventional intervals and non-root notes. The words that describe man's basic yearning for salvation, along with doubt, fear, and finally conviction and/or eventual commitment, hits me square in the heart.

The Church – Under The Milky Way Lyrics 7 years ago
I didn't read all the comments, but I read enough to know that many people are way over thinking this. This is wonderful song, simply about a lonely person wanting to connect by having sex with someone, under the stars maybe, but maybe that's just a metaphor for in this world. But it turns out the other person is looking for love or a commitment that he is not looking for. If only she would have told him that, he could have told her he was not what she was looking for. Happens a million times a day in this world.

Robin Trower – I Want to Take You With Me Lyrics 7 years ago
What a great song! Robin's guitar is so classically Trower-sounding here, and his leads, riffs, and solos are so heartfelt through the notes. This sound is obviously about a woman who was being abused by her then current boyfriend/mate, and the singer is observing it and falls in loe with her while it is happening. He eventually wins her over and continues to treat her well, it then wonders if she ever really loves him, and does she still love the one who abused her. Davey Pattison does a great job on the vocals of this song, very expressive.

Nice analysis. I never thought of the cars as opportunities, but it definitely fits well.

Can't believe nobody has commented on this. This is a totally beautiful song. Just about perfect (except for the ladder rhyme).

The Cure – From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree with @nthony, it's about being with other women while he's away, maybe on tour or whenever. I think it's summed up in the first lines of the song and that every time he does it, the guilt overcomes him and he actually falls more in love with wife.

Benny Mardones – Into The Night Lyrics 12 years ago
There's no sin or crime in loving someone younger and under the arbitrary 18 year old mark. Older people love younger people all the time. And the lyrics say he recognizes what people think about it and that has kept them apart, so there's no law being broken here, it's just a longing of the heart. This is true passion and sadness that they can't be together, a desperate desire for something you cannot have. The real beauty of this song is identifying with the "if only..." pang for an impossible love.

King Crimson – One Time Lyrics 12 years ago
I think you're pretty close, and there's always room for interpratation in Belew's stuff. I just have t say that I kind of "discovered" this song on the Eyes Wide Open DVD, and I was so surprised. It's got to be one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in recent years.

Lisa Loeb – Taffy Lyrics 12 years ago
"Pulling Taffy" = stretching things, an old phrase that means "he's kind of making this up". So even when he tells the truth, it's not exactly truthful, but like he's "pulling taffy".

The "third" person of this pair is the cross. It's about a couple that have gone crazy with their religion.

King Crimson – The ConstruKction of Light Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is about questioning the existance of God. If you know about the physics of light, you know that it has both wave and particle properties and theories. We don't and can't really understand it fully - it's beyond us and assumed must have been created by God. But the song lists all the things in the world that we usually associate with God having created and then questions if it's really all that impossible that maybe God didn't create them.
