| Misfits – Hybrid Moments Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think that maybe exactly what the song's about. Although I've never heard Hybrid used in that fashion. I'm only a little familiar with the term Greebo. | |

| wow, Cahmpiodi, that's incredibly insightful. I'd never noticed it before, but Homme's lyrics DO have that preoccupation. Another obvious preoccupation in QOTSA songs is drug use, maybe one of Homme's ideas is consume and be consumed? | |

It's about not just what Iggy was doing, but what Iggy was embracing and trying to bring to people. Rock and fucking roll. Every line directly describes what raw rock'n'roll is and should be. It's sensory overload, it's ecstacy, it's love and death. I'm listening to the song right now and god dammit I love it. |

| iggy says in the raw power liner notes that "heart full of napalm" was intended as a direct reference to heroin. Song is definitly about embracing nihilism. | |
| Misfits – Return Of The Fly Lyrics | 19 years ago |

No, there's obviously something deeper here, there HAS to be... It's, uh, about a return to innocence, where the fly, realizing he is just a small small part of a vast universe, returns to Vincent Price (metaphor for Jesus, obviously) and declares his everlasting love and devotion to the holy trinity (completed by Helen as the father and Francois as the holy ghost). The song suddenly takes a dark turn as it's revealed that society is simply a "guinea pig" to God's will, and that our "human hands and feet" are unable and unworthy of determining our course through life. And as far as "Cecile, Cecile" goes, I think Danzig just wanted to bone her, same way I did when I saw the movie. Good B flick, btw. |

A pretty straight forward call for gun control. "The Pope and the President And the big rock star who made a lotta money" Almost certainly refers to Pope John Paul the 2nd and the late President Ronald Reagan, both shooting victims in 1981, and John Lennon shot and killed in 1980. |

I think it's amazing to see the depth people see in Danzig's imagery. Most people I know love the Misfits just cus they're so fun to sing along with when you're drunk! This is a hard song to attribute meaning to, and I never tried to before, bit looking at what others have written, I've come to a realization about what it means to me personally. There's a special feeling when you're in a bar listening to a good band and singing along with them (it's especially incredible from the band's point of view, and I get to experience it every time my band plays this song.) There's a kind of freedom and release where for a brief second you can be who you are and do what you want, and not only will no one question you for it, but they'll join you. Every person, whether they want to admit it or not, has two sides. There's a polished, consored, approved of side that they present in public, and there's one inside that gets to collect all the ugliness and anguish in life. I feel the idea of this song is that each person is a hybrid of these two personalities. Those times when you feel like you need to scream, that's the other side of you trying to get out and breathe. And every once in a while, it actually gets it's chance, but it never seems to last longer than just a moment. The beauty of punk music is in the line "Give me a moment." Punks wouldn't say "treasure these moments." They wouldn't ask "when do I get a moment?" They fucking demand it. |
