raw power is what i think he is talking about, he was going through a heroin addiction at the time. Actually in the heat of it. Great song nonetheless

I think this song pretty much explains what Iggy was doing. He did his own thing despite what anyone said or thought about his music and he had a lot of "raw power."
It's about not just what Iggy was doing, but what Iggy was embracing and trying to bring to people.

The lyrics can be interpreted as describing a psychological frame of mind. Sleep deprivation can indeed bring, if enduring, psychological changes, like shallow but wild emotions, like those of a child. And child regression can heal a man (if you understand what's happening) by resolving deeply buried knots, or permanently destroy it.
